To add another chart inside TradingView, open Select Layout in the chart toolbar and choose a multi-chart arrangement supported by your plan. Each pane can show a different symbol or interval. Check synchronization settings before changing either.

TradingView drawing tools mark levels, ranges and notes on a chart. Open the drawing toolbar, select a tool and place its anchor points. A drawing describes your analysis; it does not demonstrate that price will reverse at the marked level.

“Institutional-grade” is not evidence that a TradingView signal predicts reversals. A useful evaluation starts with the exact rule, when its inputs become available, and the complete record of outcomes. Combining indicators can define a reproducible filter without establishing a higher win rate.

Add your own indicator by opening TradingView's Pine Editor, saving a complete script and selecting Add to chart. Start with a calculation whose output you can inspect manually before adding more conditions.

Repainting means a script can behave differently on historical and realtime bars. Some changes are normal, such as an unfinished candle's close changing; other behavior, such as using future values in a historical calculation, can invalidate a test. Identify the cause before applying a fix.

Backtesting applies a defined decision process to historical data under an execution model. It can reveal implementation mistakes and estimate historical outcomes. It cannot establish a future return or make a strategy safe to deploy. A reproducible test records the rules, data, costs, and model alongside the result.

Bookmap Replay lets you examine a recorded market session and practice decisions against the data it contains. It is useful for reviewing order flow, but a visual replay is not automatically a statistical backtest or a reconstruction of every hidden order.

Thinkorswim has three different ways to examine historical trading ideas: thinkBack for historical options scenarios, OnDemand for replaying market activity, and chart strategies for applying repeatable rules to chart data. Choose the tool by the question you want to answer; their results are not interchangeable.

TradingView offers two different ways to investigate a historical trading rule: step through a chart with Bar Replay, or run a Pine strategy and inspect its simulated trade report. Choose the method that matches the rule, and record the assumptions before looking at results.

Use Pine Script's barcolor() function to color the chart's existing bars according to a condition. TradingView's bar-coloring documentation notes that it affects the main chart bars even when the script itself uses a separate pane.
