Use actual units, not lots or margin. Auto P&L = signed price change × quantity − entered fees. All amounts must share one currency; the currency label does not convert values. Presets do not add contract multipliers or currency conversion. Enter a Close Date for realized records. Downloads are static values; refresh clears entries. Manual performance values override calculation until cleared. Hidden input values are retained and still affect calculations; reselect a column to inspect or clear them. Automatic results are rounded to two decimals before summary.

Use one three-letter currency code, such as USD or EUR. Changing this label does not convert existing prices, fees or results. Reconcile them before export.

What this workbook contains

Select fields, enter records and download an .xlsx file. The trade sheet contains your selected columns and current values. The optional Performance sheet contains a snapshot of the summary. Neither sheet contains formulas. The empty template has headers and a blank row. For a workbook that recalculates after editing, use the Excel formula template.

Check the arithmetic before exporting

For a linear trade, gross P&L is the directional price change multiplied by actual units. The tool subtracts the total fees entered in the commission field. For example, a fictional long trade of 10 units from 100 to 103 with 2 of fees produces 28 in the quote currency. Gross price return is 3%, before fees and without a margin denominator.

Gross R divides directional price change by the entry-to-stop distance. It requires a stop below entry for a long trade or above entry for a short trade. A stop does not guarantee execution at that price. Manual performance values take priority; clear them to resume calculation.

Presets change fields, not instrument accounting

The Forex and Crypto presets do not add lot conversion, funding, swaps, currency conversion or inverse-contract formulas. Futures and options labels do not apply contract multipliers. Use compatible unit quantities or turn off automatic calculation and enter reconciled results. Do not aggregate different currencies under a single currency label. Changing the label performs no conversion.

Understand the summary denominator

Keep Symbol, Close Date and P&L selected. A symbol, valid Close Date and finite P&L are required for inclusion. Win rate is positive results divided by all included results, including breakeven. Profit factor divides positive results by the absolute sum of losses and is unavailable without losses. Missing results are excluded, not treated as zero. An average or largest result is unavailable when that win/loss group is empty. There is no equity drawdown or tax calculation here.

Keep an export before leaving

Entries are held in browser memory. Download before refreshing or closing the page. Review the workbook in your spreadsheet application, particularly manually overridden values, currency consistency and partial exits. A journal records outcomes; it does not enforce risk limits or establish future profitability.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Excel file contain formulas?

No. This tool calculates values in the browser and exports a snapshot of values plus an optional summary. Editing the downloaded workbook does not recalculate those results unless you add and verify your own formulas. The empty template contains headers and a blank row.

How is automatic P&L calculated?

For linear unit-based trades, signed exit-minus-entry price times actual quantity, less the entered total fees. Quantity and direction are required. Gross price return and gross R exclude fees. Blank fees mean zero entered fees, not proof that the trade was free.

Does the Forex preset convert lots or account currencies?

No. Presets select columns only. Enter base units and keep all results in the same quote currency, or turn off automatic calculation and enter a reconciled result. There is no lot-size conversion, contract multiplier, inverse-contract calculation, funding or swap engine.

Can I override an automatically calculated result?

Yes. An explicit value in a performance cell takes priority and is preserved. Clear that cell to restore automatic calculation. A manual override does not update when its trade inputs change; check it against your statement.

Which rows enter the Performance Summary?

Keep Symbol, Close Date and P&L selected to enable the summary. Rows with a symbol, valid Close Date and finite P&L value are included. Zero results count in the win-rate denominator. Missing or malformed results are excluded. Profit factor is unavailable when there are no losses or its numeric range is exceeded. Average and largest win or loss are unavailable without matching trades. Manually entered results must represent closed outcomes on a consistent basis.

Are my entries saved?

This page holds entries in browser memory and creates the workbook locally. It does not provide account sync or automatic saving; refreshing can clear your work. Download before leaving. This describes the tool’s data flow, not every website service or browser extension.

Turn a reviewed idea into explicit rules

Describe your rules to Pineify’s visual editor or AI coding agent. Generated indicators and strategies still need syntax checks, testing and review; a journal pattern is not proof of future profitability.
