Day Trading Performance Tracker

Log long or short trades with USD prices per unit. Review gross P&L before costs and group it by the hour each entry was recorded. Save records in this browser and export backups.

The selected date stays fixed overnight. Times are recording times, not imported executions.

How to Use the Day Trading Performance Tracker

  1. Log Your Trades: Click the "Log Trade" button to enter each trade as you complete it. Include the ticker symbol, whether you went long (buy) or short (sell), your entry and exit USD prices per unit, and the number of units. The saved timestamp is when you record the entry.
  2. Monitor Your Dashboard: Watch your key gross totals update when you add, edit or delete a record. Win rate includes zero-P&L records in its denominator.
  3. Analyze P&L by Hour: Use the hourly chart to compare the saved recording hours. Logging several earlier trades together will group them under the same hour, so this is not execution-time analysis.
  4. Review Trade History: Scroll through your complete trade log. Edit or delete any entries that need correction.
  5. Export Your Data: At the end of the day, export your trades to a CSV file for your records or further analysis in Excel or Google Sheets.

What is Day Trading Performance Tracking?

A trading log records the inputs behind a result. This worksheet calculates gross long P&L as (exit − entry) × units, and reverses the sign for shorts. Use one USD-per-unit price basis throughout. Fees, financing, tax, contract multipliers and currency conversion are excluded.

A historical average describes the entered sample. It does not establish a profitable strategy, future win rate or optimal trading time. Missing records, costs and the chosen observation period can change the interpretation.

Why Traders Need This Tool

  • Check arithmetic: Compare trade-level gross P&L with daily totals.
  • Separate wins, losses and flat trades: A zero-gross-P&L trade remains in the win-rate denominator.
  • Keep context: Record notes about entries and assumptions; notes are included in CSV export.
  • Back up records: Browser storage can be cleared or unavailable. CSV contains unrounded numeric values and UTC timestamps.
  • Know the boundary: Local storage is not encryption, synchronization or a guarantee about all site data processing.

FAQs

What profit calculation is supported?

This tracker uses (exit price minus entry price) times units for a long trade, with the sign reversed for a short trade. Prices must be USD per unit. Results are gross: fees, spread, borrow interest, taxes, contract multipliers and currency conversion are not included. Futures contracts and option contracts cannot be entered as if each were one share.

What does the hourly chart measure?

It groups gross P&L by the saved local hour when a trade was logged. This is not necessarily the execution hour. All 24 hours are included, and the chart cannot establish the best time to trade.

How are win rate and averages calculated?

Win rate is positive-gross-P&L trades divided by all trades, including zero-P&L trades. Average win uses positive trades only; average loss is the absolute mean of negative trades. Missing samples are shown as a dash.

Where are my records stored?

This tool saves daily entries in local browser storage when available and has no trade-upload request. It is not an encrypted vault or a site-wide privacy guarantee. Browser clearing, storage failure or a different browser can make records unavailable. Export CSV backups.

Can I open another day?

Use the journal-date selector to load a saved daily bucket. The selected date stays fixed if you leave the tab open overnight. Load Today explicitly to start a new day. New records use the current local clock time on the selected journal date; edits preserve their original timestamp.

Keep a Broader Trading Journal

Explore Pineify Trading Journal for its separate journaling workflow. This local worksheet does not synchronize or automatically import its entries into that product.
