Google Sheets tip

Download the CSV, open Google Sheets, go to File → Import, upload the file, and choose a new sheet or spreadsheet to preserve existing records. Confirm the separator, then add your formulas and formatting.

Excel tip

Import the file and preview the delimiter and column types. A CSV may open differently with regional settings. This download has no formulas, styling or saved trades.

How to Use This Day Trading Journal Template Generator

This generator creates blank columns for recording intraday trades. Choose only the fields you can maintain consistently, then define your spreadsheet calculations and review process. A template does not establish trading performance.

  1. Pick a preset or start from scratch: Choose Scalping, Momentum, or Swing Intraday to load a curated set of fields. Or select individual fields from the five categories.
  2. Customize your fields: Toggle fields on or off. Choose Session, Holding Time, Gap %, Catalyst or Relative Volume only when you can record their definitions and source consistently.
  3. Choose your format: CSV works with Excel, Google Sheets, and Numbers. TSV (tab-separated) is useful for pasting directly into spreadsheet cells.
  4. Set empty rows: Add 1 to 20 blank rows so you can start logging trades immediately after opening the file.
  5. Export: Copy to clipboard or download the file. Open in your preferred spreadsheet app and start journaling.

Define the record before adding trades

Decide whether a row represents a complete position or one exit. For partial exits, retain the original quantity and separate fill evidence so a position is not counted twice. This template does not combine fills or calculate results.

  • Time and sessions: Record one time zone and the date with entry and exit times. Define session labels for your exchange; a time without a zone is ambiguous across markets.
  • Currency and costs: Label the reporting currency and use it consistently for gross P&L, fees and net P&L. Document any conversion rate and contract multiplier in Notes. The file does not convert lots, currencies or contract units.
  • Risk and percentages: Define whether P&L % uses price, invested capital or account equity, and whether R-Multiple includes fees. A missing stop or unknown denominator should remain unavailable, rather than being recorded as zero.
  • Context: Note the baseline for Relative Volume and Gap %. Use a screenshot link to preserve chart context; the template does not embed images or retrieve market data.
  • Review: Record emotions and execution ratings as your own observations. Compare complete samples with costs and breakeven records included; differences are questions for investigation, not proof of causation or future returns.

Choose a template or a calculator

This page creates a blank record structure. If you need an XLSX workbook with formulas, use the Excel formula template and verify its calculation assumptions. For an online record that exports current values, use the Excel journal generator. Keep a downloaded copy before refreshing this page; selections are not saved.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the generator download?

A CSV or TSV text file containing your selected column headers and blank rows. It does not generate an XLSX workbook, PDF, formulas, charts or a live trading connection.

Does selecting P&L or R-Multiple calculate it?

No. These are blank column labels. Enter values yourself or add formulas in a spreadsheet, using the correct direction, quantities, fees, currency and instrument contract rules.

Can I use the template in Excel or Google Sheets?

Yes. Import the CSV or TSV and confirm the separator and column types. Create a new sheet or workbook so you do not replace existing records. Add any formulas and formatting after import.

Can I print or save it as PDF?

Use your spreadsheet application’s print or PDF export after importing and formatting the template. This page itself exports CSV and TSV only.

Are the presets tested trading strategies?

No. Scalping, Momentum and Swing Intraday are convenient field selections, not trading rules, performance benchmarks or recommendations.

Are my settings saved?

Selections are held in the current page state and reset on reload. Download or copy the generated template before leaving.

Turn Review Notes into Explicit Rules

Use the template to document a hypothesis before exploring Pineify’s visual editor or AI coding agent. Generated strategies require syntax checks, backtesting and independent review; the journal does not prove an edge or automatically convert records into a profitable system.
