Pineify shows the latest daily values reported through its TradingView Alert pipeline. This page does not recalculate the indicator in the browser. It is an information tool, not investment advice.

What ADX 14 measures

An ADX screener compares trend strength across a symbol list. ADX alone has no bullish or bearish direction; compare +DI with -DI before assigning a candidate to either watchlist.

Calculation

Pineify receives the reported indicator fields from its TradingView Alert pipeline. The calculation follows this method:

DX = 100 × abs(+DI - -DI) / (+DI + -DI), when the denominator is positive. ADX smooths DX using Wilder averaging; ADX 14 uses a 14-period smoothing length.

The page leaves missing readings unavailable. It does not fill a gap with an estimate or a browser-side calculation.

How to use this scan

Use this screen to review a watchlist before deciding whether to investigate a chart. Select a market collection, inspect ADX 14 alongside +DI 14 and -DI 14, then check volume and price on the matching daily chart. This public table searches symbols and collections; it does not execute numeric filter expressions.

  1. 1Start in All, then search a reference symbol such as AAPL, SPY, or BTCUSDT. Verify liquidity separately.
  2. 2Compare the ADX 14 reading with other Symbols in the same market collection.
  3. 3Open the chart to check price structure, volume and data timing before making a decision.

Reading the ADX 14 signals

Read the value in context. A single daily result can narrow the list, but it cannot replace a chart review.

1

Below 20 is a conventional weak-trend region. Values from 20 through 25 are a transition zone, not an automatic entry.

2

For a rule defined as ADX > 25, exactly 25 does not pass. This threshold is a starting assumption to test for the instrument.

3

With ADX above your threshold, +DI > -DI supports a bullish-direction candidate; -DI > +DI supports a bearish one. Equal DI values select neither.

Where the signal can fail

ADX smooths past movement and can remain high while a trend weakens or reverses. A current +DI lead is not proof of a fresh crossover. Missing values and stale snapshots must stay unresolved rather than being counted as zero or as passing candidates.

ADX 14 cannot predict future prices. Confirm the setup and define your risk before acting.

Data and cache method

This public endpoint requests daily snapshots and caches each indicator response for up to four hours. Seven shorter timeframes stay locked on the public page and are available in the full Pineify Screener, subject to sign-in and plan access.

Read the Pineify Screener method and feature guide for the full workflow behind collections, timeframes, and technical signals.

Build an ADX shortlist in five checks

Use the following daily stock query as a worked screening rule: ADX 14 > 25, +DI 14 > -DI 14, and 20-session average volume of at least 500,000 shares. The volume floor is an illustrative research choice, not a recommended minimum or proof of liquidity. The steps describe a review workflow, not an expression you can paste into this public search box.

  • 1. Choose the universe. Select Top US Stocks or another relevant collection. All combines the covered collections; it is not every listed stock. Keep the exchange-qualified symbol when opening a chart.
  • 2. Apply the strength test. Read ADX 14 in the 1D cell and retain readings above 25. Exclude missing values and keep readings exactly at 25 outside this strict rule.
  • 3. Check direction. Retain +DI 14 greater than -DI 14 for the bullish list. Reverse only this comparison for a bearish list. Read the companion values rather than inferring direction from the ADX meter.
  • 4. Check participation. The ADX public table does not show volume. In the full Market Screener, add Volume SMA 20 to a stock collection, or inspect average share volume on the chart. Apply the example floor of 500,000 and review spreads and order size separately. Relative volume measures activity against a baseline; it does not establish absolute liquidity.
  • 5. Confirm the chart. Open the same exchange and symbol in TradingView, use daily candles, and add DMI with DI length 14 and ADX smoothing 14. Compare the same bar and session settings. Review price structure and spread before considering an order.

Worked filter: one candidate, four exclusions

These invented rows demonstrate the rule, not current securities or trade recommendations. Assume all readings refer to the same completed daily bar and the volume average uses 20 completed sessions. The bullish rule requires all three conditions to pass.

Worked filter: one candidate, four exclusions
Hypothetical rowADX 14+DI / -DI20-day average sharesDecision
A2830 / 15600,000Pass for chart review
B3212 / 28800,000Reject bullish list; bearish direction
C2530 / 15700,000Reject: ADX must exceed 25
D2830 / 15120,000Reject: below the example volume floor
EUnavailable30 / 15600,000Unresolved: no ADX strength test

Recheck the numbers and the boundary cases

For row A, 12,000,000 shares over 20 sessions gives an average of 600,000 shares per session. With +DI = 30 and -DI = 15, DX = 100 × 15 / 45 = 33.33. That single DX value does not reproduce ADX 28: ADX also depends on the smoothed history. The screening decision uses the reported ADX, not DX substituted for it. The separate DMI state badge uses a different built-in rule: ADX below 15 or missing inputs gives neutral; otherwise the larger DI determines direction, with equal DI neutral. A bullish badge alone therefore does not pass this article’s stricter ADX > 25 test.

  • An average of exactly 500,000 passes the inclusive volume floor; ADX of exactly 25 fails the strict strength threshold.
  • Equal +DI and -DI fails both directional comparisons. If their sum is zero, the raw DX fraction is undefined; do not invent a direction or replace a missing ADX with zero.
  • A displayed value rounded to 25.00 may hide a small difference around the threshold. Check full precision on the chart before deciding whether it passes.
  • Do not compare a crypto pair volume figure with a stock share-volume floor. Volume units, venue coverage, and sessions differ.

Separate scan time, cache time, and bar time

Record when you reviewed the list, the selected collection, the daily timeframe, and the Cached timestamp. Cached records when Pineify assembled the response, not when every symbol last traded. The public response can be reused for up to four hours; reloading the page need not deliver a newer underlying bar.

Separate scan time, cache time, and bar time
CheckWhat it establishesWhat it does not establish
Your scan timeWhen you performed the reviewThe age of the underlying indicator input
Cached timestampWhen the public response was assembledA common closing time for all symbols
Daily chart barThe bar and session used for chart comparisonThat the cached screener has already received that bar
Unavailable indicatorThe required reading is not usableA zero reading or absence of a trend
  • For a closing-bar process, check that the matching daily session has closed. The label 1D alone does not certify that the latest reported value is a completed-bar value.
  • Markets close at different times, and stocks can remain on their last session while crypto continues trading. A freshly cached response can contain older market data.
  • If a chart disagrees, compare exchange, daily bar, session, DI length, and ADX smoothing first. If the timestamps or input history cannot be aligned, leave the candidate unconfirmed.
  • A blank search result can mean the symbol is outside the covered collection. It does not prove that the symbol failed your ADX rule.

When the rule needs a custom script

Market Screener can compare its available ADX, DI, and volume fields. A rule such as ADX rising for three completed bars or a DI crossover on the most recent closed bar needs history beyond a single displayed snapshot. Describe the rule and a finite symbol list to Pine Script AI Coding Agent, then validate the generated script and compare its results with TradingView charts.

  • Specify daily bars, DI length 14, ADX smoothing 14, exact threshold operators, and how missing values should be handled.
  • Specify whether you want the present DI relationship or a new crossover. They select different sets of symbols.
  • A script that requests a finite list of symbols is subject to TradingView request and execution limits. It is not an unrestricted exchange-wide scan or a guarantee of future returns.

ADX Screener FAQ

What does the ADX Screener show?+

An ADX screener compares trend strength across a symbol list. ADX alone has no bullish or bearish direction; compare +DI with -DI before assigning a candidate to either watchlist. This page checks that indicator across Pineify's default stocks, crypto pairs, and ETF collections so you can narrow a watchlist without opening each chart first.

How should I read the ADX 14 result?+

Below 20 is a conventional weak-trend region. Values from 20 through 25 are a transition zone, not an automatic entry. Treat the daily reading as a starting point, then compare it with price structure, volume, and your own risk rules.

Can ADX 14 predict the next price move?+

No. ADX 14 is calculated from reported market data and cannot predict the next move or guarantee a profitable trade. It can help you sort a watchlist for further research.

What timeframe does the ADX Screener use?+

This public page shows daily data only. Each visible ADX 14 reading comes from the latest daily snapshot returned by Pineify's TradingView Alert pipeline.

Why are the shorter timeframes locked?+

The public page requests the daily timeframe only. The full Screener supports 4-hour, 2-hour, 1-hour, 30-minute, 15-minute, 5-minute, and 1-minute readings. Sign-in is required, and symbol visibility and access depend on your plan.

How often is the ADX 14 data refreshed?+

The public API caches each indicator response for up to four hours. The table shows when its current cached response was created, although the underlying daily bar may be older when a market is closed.

Need more than daily ADX 14 data?

The full Screener adds seven shorter timeframes, the complete technical indicator library, and editable Symbol collections.
