An index level is not a security price
S&P Dow Jones Indices explains that indexes measure a market or strategy and are distinct from the investment products that track them. Constituent selection, weighting, divisor adjustments and return methodology affect the reported level.
A 100-point move from 10,000 is 1%; the same move from 5,000 is 2%. This table does not supply a common observation interval or calculate comparable percentage returns, so absolute point changes should not be ranked as market performance.
What this response can and cannot establish
The FinancialModelingPrep batch index endpoint returns symbols with available levels, change and volume. Missing values remain N/A. The short payload does not establish the quote timestamp or the definition of index volume. It does not automatically substitute the volume of an associated fund or futures contract.
Use the filtered page deliberately
- Enter a symbol substring, such as DJI or GSPC. The filter applies to the returned list, not a second market request.
- Refresh to request a snapshot. A newly retrieved response may still contain delayed or prior-session values.
- Export the visible page, up to 20 rows, and retain its retrieval context. A CSV snapshot is not price history for backtesting.
