A directory lookup, with two fields to inspect
FMP calls this endpoint the Actively Trading List. The returned rows used here contain a symbol and name. They can help locate a provider identifier for further research, but the page does not load prices, bid/ask spreads, trading volume, exchange status or the time of the last trade. The provider description does not establish a measurable liquidity threshold for this tool. A directory record is therefore insufficient to claim that an order can execute now.
Search the response and keep its scope
- The page requests the directory on opening. Refresh repeats that request; there is no continuous feed.
- Search matches part of the symbol or name without case sensitivity. Leading and trailing search spaces are ignored. This is a local filter over the loaded response, not a separate worldwide security search.
- The table displays 20 matching rows per page. Changing the search returns to page one. A missing name is shown as N/A, while its symbol remains searchable.
- Export Filtered CSV saves all matching rows, including other table pages. Clear the search to export all returned rows. The file contains row number, symbol and name.
For example, if a hypothetical response contains 140 rows and a search matches 23, the table has two pages of matches and the CSV contains all 23 data rows. The row number is a display position, not a liquidity rank. Exporting that response does not prove that it contains every listed security or every exchange.
Verify status before using a symbol elsewhere
Check the exchange, security type and currency in a separate company or instrument lookup. A similar name or a symbol with an exchange suffix can refer to a different listing. For a time-sensitive U.S. equity status question, consult an exchange notice such as Nasdaq Trader’s current trading halts and the broker handling the order. This page does not ingest that halt feed, and it cannot guarantee that a listed record is not halted.
The API caches directory responses for up to 30 minutes. Refreshing within that period can return the same response. Provider update timing is additional and is not established here. The fetch timestamp only shows when the browser received a successful response. A missing symbol or empty search is not evidence of delisting or zero trading activity.
Do not silently turn a current directory into historical membership
Suppose a historical test should consider 100 companies, but 10 later delisted and are absent from a current directory. Starting the old test with the remaining 90 changes its eligible universe before any strategy rule runs. That is a survivorship problem even if every surviving company’s historical prices are accurate. The example is hypothetical; this tool does not provide dated membership or resolve symbol changes.
Preserve the research date and provider identifiers when exporting. For a historical test, obtain membership valid on each test date and account for delistings and identifier changes separately. For current research, follow a directory lookup with the actual fields needed for the decision, such as quote age and volume. This page neither ranks opportunities nor generates a buy or sell recommendation.
