What the exchange directory represents
The source is Financial Modeling Prep's available-exchanges endpoint. Each returned record can identify an exchange code, display name, country, ticker suffix and provider delay label. This is provider coverage metadata, not a complete worldwide exchange register, a live market feed or confirmation that your brokerage supports the venue.
Find and reuse a record
- Wait for the directory to load. A failed request displays an error; an empty result is not evidence that an exchange has closed.
- Search by code, name, country name or country code. Matching is case-insensitive and ignores leading or trailing spaces. Search filters the loaded directory locally.
- Use the 20-row pages to inspect the matches. Export CSV includes every matching row, including matches beyond the visible page.
- Refresh to request the directory again. The server can reuse a cached response for 24 hours, so a refresh does not force an upstream change.
Read the fields before using them
Codes are provider identifiers
Use the returned exchange code where an FMP-backed search expects it. Do not assume that it is an ISO market identifier, broker routing code or TradingView prefix.
Suffixes are ticker conventions
Preserve the exact suffix and verify a full ticker in symbol search. A blank field is displayed as —. A supplied N/A value is preserved without inventing missing data.
Delay labels have limits
A Real-time directory label is not an observed quote timestamp, a zero-latency promise or proof of account entitlements. Check the particular data product and its timestamp before relying on freshness.
CSV preserves provider text and leaves missing values blank. Fields are quoted and escaped; spreadsheet formula-like text is prefixed with an apostrophe. The list does not provide market hours, holidays, individual listings or order submission.
