What is a Stock Symbol Search?
A ticker search helps identify securities in a provider’s directory. Read the exchange and currency together with the symbol: similar names or tickers can refer to different share classes, listings, funds, or depositary instruments. This page queries FMP’s symbol-search endpoint and displays the returned fields. Coverage and result limits mean it should not be treated as an exhaustive exchange directory.
How to Use This Stock Symbol Search
- 1
Enter a Full or Partial Symbol
Type a full or partial ticker symbol (e.g., "AAPL", "MSFT", or "TSL") into the Query field. The search matches against ticker symbols across all supported exchanges.
- 2
Set Optional Filters
Optionally set a result limit to control how many matches are returned, or filter by a specific exchange (e.g., NASDAQ, LSE, XETRA) to narrow your results.
- 3
Review Results
Browse the results table showing the ticker symbol, company name, trading currency, exchange full name, and exchange short code. Use the Export CSV button to download results for offline analysis.
Why Use Our Stock Symbol Search?
Listing Context
Review the provider’s exchange and currency fields before selecting a result. A ticker alone does not establish instrument equivalence.
Manual Lookup
Search when needed. The endpoint caches results for five minutes; response time and available records depend on the provider.
100% Free
The lookup is free without registration. Export covers the current returned results, not additional records outside the limit.
