Use a notebook for your trading context, sections for a review period and one page per trade. The plain-text starter below gives charts, fills and decisions a consistent place. OneNote supports simple arithmetic and tags; a note calculation is not a linked trade ledger.

Copy this text into a blank OneNote page and format it there. This is not a .one file or a preinstalled notebook. Microsoft’s page-template instructions apply to the listed desktop editions; menus can differ by client.

Create a blank trade page

Save a reusable page where supported
Microsoft documents saving the current page as a template in its desktop template workflow. Apply a template to a new blank page; move existing content deliberately.

Name and tag the record
Use a stable trade ID in the title and mark outstanding questions with a tag. On supported desktop editions, Find Tags can collect matching tagged notes.

Reconcile outside the page layout
Match the trade with the execution ledger before copying its result into the note. A chart screenshot should support a claim, not replace fill quantities or costs.
Fields to keep consistent

OneNote can do simple arithmetic
Microsoft documents typed expressions followed by an equals sign and Space. For example, the fictional linear long calculation (110-100)*2-1-0.5 gives 18.5 after two entered costs. That is a spot check of supplied numbers, not a portfolio-wide reconciliation.
A collection of independently typed answers will not define how partial exits, overlapping positions or currencies should be combined. Keep those rules and the numerical ledger alongside the notebook.
Use tags to find questions, not just outcomes
OneNote can search tagged notes and show a summary on supported desktop editions. Use a tag for a missing fee, an unexplained fill or a review question, then resolve the underlying evidence before calling a record complete.
Keep a separate list of all trades in the review period. Reading only pages tagged as good setups would bias the comparison toward trades you already like.
A notebook and a spreadsheet can serve different jobs
Leave chart annotation and decision notes in OneNote when that helps you review. Put consistent quantities, costs and result calculations in a ledger, using the same trade ID in both places.
Before changing tools, compare a closed winner, a closed loser and a partially open trade. Check whether the destination preserves the information you actually need. This page offers no automatic OneNote archive importer.
Keep calculations connected to the note
Use the same trade ID in your note and numerical ledger. The Excel journal template provides a separate formula workbook with explicit units and costs. Check its assumptions before relying on the results.

Is the download a OneNote notebook?
No. It is a plain-text page starter. Paste it into OneNote and save or duplicate the page using the controls available in your edition.
Does OneNote support any calculations?
Yes. Microsoft documents simple typed math calculations. That is different from a defined cross-trade accounting model with linked fields and reconciled executions.
Can I search by tags?
Yes. Microsoft documents tag search and a Tags Summary pane for supported desktop editions. Tag the relevant text and check the search scope.
Does Pineify automatically synchronize this notebook?
No OneNote-to-Pineify synchronization is provided by this guide. The current Journal Import History control is marked Coming Soon; compare a small manually entered sample instead.
