Use one note per trade, with a stable ID connecting the plan, execution evidence and review. Evernote templates and search operators can organize the archive. Keep a reconciled ledger for numerical totals and test exports before changing tools.
A reusable Evernote trade note
Paste the text into an Evernote note, then save it as a template using your current app’s controls. This is a text starter, not an ENEX file, a broker importer or an Evernote-endorsed template.

Save it as a template
Evernote documents creating a new template or saving an existing note as one. Use the current controls for your platform; the downloaded text does not create it automatically.

Apply consistent tags
Choose a small setup vocabulary and a reconciliation status. Use real note tags, and test a search after creating a few fictional records.

Keep an archive you can inspect
Use the desktop app’s ENEX or HTML export for a sample. Open the exported content and check the chosen attributes and attachments before depending on the archive.

Search by setup without confusing note time and trade time
A search such as notebook:Trades tag:breakout narrows notes by notebook and tag. Evernote’s created: operator filters the note creation date, not the close date you wrote in the body. Press Enter to run an advanced search; suggestions do not apply the full syntax.
For a monthly performance review, match the selected note IDs to ledger rows with the intended execution-date range. Count the missing and unmatched records before comparing net results.
Export notes without assuming they become trade rows
Evernote’s Mac and Windows desktop apps export ENEX or HTML; the web app does not provide that export workflow. Select the attributes you need and inspect the exported sample, including its resource files.
An ENEX archive preserves notes, not a universal execution schema. Retain the original archive if you later map records into another journal. This guide supplies no ENEX-to-Pineify importer and does not promise automatic attachment migration.
A useful review separates observation from explanation
Record the planned exit before entering a trade. Afterward, distinguish the observed fill from a reason you inferred from the chart. A note such as “I entered late” should point to the planned condition and timestamp rather than simply accompany a loss.
When several notes appear to show a pattern, inspect all eligible trades under the same definition. A filtered notebook or an AI-written summary cannot establish that the pattern will repeat.
Keep calculations connected to the note
Use the same trade ID in your note and numerical ledger. The Excel journal template provides a separate formula workbook with explicit units and costs. Check its assumptions before relying on the results.
