Pineify shows the latest daily values reported through its TradingView Alert pipeline. This page does not recalculate the indicator in the browser. It is an information tool, not investment advice.

What MACD measures

A MACD crossover screener needs two consecutive bars to identify a fresh cross. This table shows the latest daily MACD snapshot, so use it to shortlist symbols and confirm the crossing bar on TradingView. It does not certify that the current daily bar has closed.

Calculation

Pineify receives the reported indicator fields from its TradingView Alert pipeline. The calculation follows this method:

MACD = EMA(close, 12) - EMA(close, 26). Signal = EMA(MACD, 9). Histogram = MACD - Signal. The displayed MACD and signal lines each equal 100 x their raw value / absolute close; the histogram remains in raw price units.

The page leaves missing readings unavailable. It does not fill a gap with an estimate or a browser-side calculation.

How to use this scan

Use this screen to review a watchlist before deciding whether to investigate a chart. Compare daily MACD and signal values across the available market collections, then inspect two completed bars for each candidate. Record the exchange, session, timeframe and bar close time with every confirmed cross.

  1. 1Start in All, then search a reference symbol such as AAPL, SPY, or BTCUSDT. Verify liquidity separately.
  2. 2Compare the MACD reading with other Symbols in the same market collection.
  3. 3Open the chart to check price structure, volume and data timing before making a decision.

Reading the MACD signals

Read the value in context. A single daily result can narrow the list, but it cannot replace a chart review.

1

Histogram above zero means MACD is above its signal line; it does not identify when that relationship began.

2

A fresh bullish cross requires the latest completed histogram to be positive and the previous completed histogram to be zero or negative. Reverse the inequalities for a bearish cross.

3

MACD above zero means EMA 12 exceeds EMA 26. This is a separate condition from MACD being above its signal line.

Where the signal can fail

Latest snapshots can contain a forming daily bar, and a recent cache timestamp does not prove daily-bar confirmation. MACD can cross repeatedly in sideways markets; a confirmed cross does not predict a profitable trade. This page is for research, not investment advice.

MACD cannot predict future prices. Confirm the setup and define your risk before acting.

Data and cache method

This public endpoint requests daily snapshots and caches each indicator response for up to four hours. Seven shorter timeframes stay locked on the public page and are available in the full Pineify Screener, subject to sign-in and plan access.

Read the Pineify Screener method and feature guide for the full workflow behind collections, timeframes, and technical signals.

Fresh cross, existing state and zero-line filter

Use the same symbol, timeframe and MACD settings for both observations. In the rules below, current means the latest completed bar and previous means the completed bar immediately before it. Equality on the current bar is not a cross.

Fresh cross, existing state and zero-line filter
Screening taskExact ruleWhat it leaves unresolved
Fresh bullish signal-line crossCurrent histogram > 0 and previous histogram <= 0The MACD line can still be below zero.
Already above the signal lineCurrent histogram > 0The cross may have happened many bars ago.
Fresh bullish cross above zeroFresh bullish signal-line cross and current MACD > 0This excludes bullish crosses while MACD remains negative.
Fresh bearish signal-line crossCurrent histogram < 0 and previous histogram >= 0The MACD line can still be above zero.
Fresh MACD zero-line crossCurrent MACD > 0 and previous MACD <= 0This detects the fast EMA moving above the slow EMA, not necessarily a signal-line cross.

A two-bar example with different screening results

These are hypothetical raw MACD readings in price units, not market observations or a return forecast. Each row compares two completed daily bars using 12/26/9 EMA settings. Subtract signal from MACD to reproduce each histogram.

A two-bar example with different screening results
ExamplePrevious MACD / signal / histogramCurrent MACD / signal / histogramResult
A-0.40 / -0.30 / -0.10-0.20 / -0.28 / +0.08Fresh bullish cross; fails MACD > 0 filter.
B0.30 / 0.20 / +0.100.50 / 0.26 / +0.24Above signal and zero; no fresh signal-line cross.
C0.20 / 0.30 / -0.100.40 / 0.32 / +0.08Fresh bullish cross above zero.
D0.20 / 0.30 / -0.100.30 / 0.30 / 0.00Lines touch; neither bullish nor bearish cross.
  • The signal values are consistent with a 9-period EMA update: new signal = 0.2 x new MACD + 0.8 x previous signal.
  • For example C, assume the current close is 50. The displayed MACD is 0.80% and signal is 0.64%. Their 0.16 percentage-point gap corresponds to the raw histogram of 0.08.
  • Scaling both lines by the same positive denominator preserves their ordering. It does not make the raw histogram comparable across differently priced instruments. Missing values or a zero close cannot produce usable normalized lines.

What the Pineify MACD state actually means

Pineify combines histogram sign and direction in its MACD state. Bullish means the histogram is positive and higher than its previous value. Bearish means it is negative and lower than its previous value. Other combinations are neutral. A bullish label therefore includes some ongoing trends and is not a fresh-crossover flag.

  • A histogram moving from +0.10 to +0.24 is bullish in this state model, even though it was already positive.
  • A histogram moving from +0.24 to +0.08 remains above the signal line but is neutral in this state model because it is shrinking.
  • The public payload provides the latest histogram, state and normalized lines. It does not provide a previous histogram or a crossing timestamp, so the table alone cannot establish a new crossover.

Confirm the daily close before counting a match

This public screener requests daily snapshots and caches each indicator response for up to four hours. It does not expose a separate confirmed-close flag for the daily calculation. A closed intraday source bar can still carry a higher-timeframe value that is changing, so treat an intraday daily reading as provisional.

  • Select the intended market collection and check the exchange-qualified ticker. The available collections are a defined universe, not every listed instrument.
  • Open that exact symbol in TradingView on a standard candlestick chart. Match the session and use close as the source with EMA lengths 12, 26 and 9.
  • Wait for the symbol's daily session to end. Ignore the open candle and compare the two most recent completed daily bars. If the latest snapshot does not match them, exclude it from the confirmed shortlist.
  • Record the market session, timezone, two bar dates, histogram values and confirmation time. A cache creation time or webhook receipt time is not the close time of every requested timeframe.
  • If the value is missing, stale or rounded too close to zero to determine its sign, mark the result unverified. Do not treat a missing row as a negative signal.

Keep daily, hourly and weekly crosses separate

A daily MACD cross and an hourly MACD cross are different events because each EMA uses bars from its own timeframe. Twelve hourly bars are not twelve trading days. The public table is daily only; changing your TradingView chart interval does not change this table.

  • For a daily trend filter with an hourly trigger, record the latest completed daily MACD state separately from the two completed hourly bars that establish the trigger.
  • A daily cross can disappear before the daily close even after an hourly bar has closed. Weekly filters likewise need a completed weekly bar.
  • Keep regular-session and extended-session settings consistent. Different sessions, data feeds or EMA warm-up history can produce different borderline crosses.

Use the snapshot to build a verifiable shortlist

Open Market Screener to organize your symbols and review its available indicator fields. For a custom rule such as a fresh cross above zero on a fixed list, describe the symbol list, timeframe, session and closed-bar requirement to Pine Script AI Coding Agent. Review its generated script on TradingView before relying on the results.

  • A useful specification is: evaluate only completed daily bars; require current histogram > 0, previous histogram <= 0 and current MACD > 0; show the matching bar date and mark missing data separately.
  • A custom multi-symbol Pine script is limited by TradingView request and execution limits. It is not an unrestricted exchange-wide scan.
  • Keep entry, exit, sizing and costs separate from the screening rule. A candidate list is not evidence that the rule has a trading edge.

MACD Crossover Screener FAQ

What does the MACD Crossover Screener show?+

A MACD crossover screener needs two consecutive bars to identify a fresh cross. This table shows the latest daily MACD snapshot, so use it to shortlist symbols and confirm the crossing bar on TradingView. It does not certify that the current daily bar has closed. This page checks that indicator across Pineify's default stocks, crypto pairs, and ETF collections so you can narrow a watchlist without opening each chart first.

How should I read the MACD result?+

Histogram above zero means MACD is above its signal line; it does not identify when that relationship began. Treat the daily reading as a starting point, then compare it with price structure, volume, and your own risk rules.

Can MACD predict the next price move?+

No. MACD is calculated from reported market data and cannot predict the next move or guarantee a profitable trade. It can help you sort a watchlist for further research.

What timeframe does the MACD Crossover Screener use?+

This public page shows daily data only. Each visible MACD reading comes from the latest daily snapshot returned by Pineify's TradingView Alert pipeline.

Why are the shorter timeframes locked?+

The public page requests the daily timeframe only. The full Screener supports 4-hour, 2-hour, 1-hour, 30-minute, 15-minute, 5-minute, and 1-minute readings. Sign-in is required, and symbol visibility and access depend on your plan.

How often is the MACD data refreshed?+

The public API caches each indicator response for up to four hours. The table shows when its current cached response was created, although the underlying daily bar may be older when a market is closed.

Need more than daily MACD data?

The full Screener adds seven shorter timeframes, the complete technical indicator library, and editable Symbol collections.
