  3. Place Buy Orders: Select a stock, choose the number of shares, and execute your trade.

  5. Sell When Ready: Sell your positions to lock in profits or cut losses.

What is a Stock Market Simulator?

A stock market simulator is a virtual trading platform that allows you to practice buying and selling stocks without risking real money. This tool demonstrates cash, share count, average cost, and mark-to-market bookkeeping. Independent random price changes do not reproduce market conditions, cross-stock correlations, news, or a historical price path.

Why Practice Trading is Important

  • Risk-Free Learning: Make mistakes and learn from them without losing real money.
  • Check Position Accounting: Observe how a purchase changes cash and weighted-average cost.
  • Explore Mark-to-Market Changes: Watch synthetic price changes alter the value of open holdings.
  • Understand the Limits: Immediate synthetic fills omit fees, spread, slippage, liquidity, and taxes; they cannot test whether a real strategy is profitable.

Features of This Simulator

  • $100,000 Virtual Cash: Start with a substantial amount to build a diversified portfolio.
  • Synthetic Price Changes: Independent random changes run every three seconds while this page is open.
  • Twelve Named Examples: Use familiar symbols without connecting to a broker or market-data provider.
  • Portfolio Tracking: Monitor your holdings, gains, losses, and overall performance.
  • No Login Required: Start trading immediately without creating an account.
  • Local Storage: Your portfolio is saved in your browser when storage is available. Example prices restart on reload; clearing browser data removes saved progress.

FAQ

Is this simulator free to use?

Yes. It starts with $100,000 of virtual cash and does not require registration or payment. No real orders are submitted.

Are these real stock prices?

No. Twelve named stocks use arbitrary starting prices and independent random changes every three seconds while the page is open. There is no market feed, historical replay, news response, or validated model of returns.

What does a simulated fill include?

A buy or sell fills immediately at the current synthetic price. There are no commissions, spread, slippage, liquidity constraints, dividends, borrowing, or tax calculations. Results cannot establish a strategy advantage.

What is saved when I leave?

When browser storage is available, cash, holdings, and the latest 50 transactions are stored locally; the interface shows the latest 10 transactions. Prices restart from the example values on reload, so portfolio marks can jump. This is not a continuous historical simulation or a cloud backup.
