What is Paper Trading?
Paper trading uses virtual funds to explore trading workflows. The usefulness of a simulator depends on its data and execution model. This page introduces order entry and position tracking; it does not reproduce an exchange or broker account.
This page is a simplified interface demo with $100,000 in virtual cash. Prices vary randomly around fixed example values; unknown symbols use a generic base price. Market orders create simulated positions. Limit and stop orders are only stored, and positions must be closed manually. The outputs cannot establish strategy profitability or readiness for live trading.
How to Use This Paper Trading Simulator
- 1
Select a Symbol
Choose from popular stocks like AAPL, TSLA, MSFT, or enter a custom label. The simulator generates synthetic values, not quotes for that symbol.
- 2
Choose Order Type
Select Market Order to open an illustrative position. Limit and Stop choices create pending records only; price updates do not fill them.
- 3
Set Position Direction
Go Long (Buy) if you expect the price to rise, or go Short (Sell) if you expect the price to fall. The short-position display is simplified and does not represent broker margin or account equity.
- 4
Record Reference Levels
Optionally record Stop Loss and Take Profit levels. They are reference notes and will not close a position when a price crosses them.
- 5
Monitor & Manage
Track your open positions, pending orders, and trade history. Close positions manually. Pending orders can be cancelled, but are not automatically executed.
