Updated Quarterly

Inspect Reported Positions with Our Free Institutional Holdings Tracker

Inspect a sample of provider-reported institutional positions for one ticker and calendar quarter. Compare position changes and filing dates; these delayed snapshots do not show current buying or selling.

What are 13F Filings and Why Do They Matter?

Form 13F discloses specified quarter-end securities positions held under an institutional manager’s investment discretion. The $100 million threshold applies to Section 13(f) securities and the rule’s timing conditions, not simply all assets under management. The report is delayed and incomplete as a view of an investor’s whole portfolio; it does not establish current trades or intent.

How to Use This Institutional Holdings Tracker

  1. 1

    Enter a Stock Symbol

Enter one ticker, then choose a quarter. The tool requests at most 100 provider rows. Empty results can reflect unavailable or incomplete data rather than an absence of institutional owners.

  2. 2

    Analyze Ownership Summary

The manager count uses distinct available CIK identifiers in the sample. Reported value sums exclude missing values and are not deduplicated across amended filings or shared reporting. A profile price is a separate current snapshot, not the quarter-end valuation basis.

  3. 3

    Filter and Sort Data

Use the provider’s new/sold-out flags and share-count changes to narrow rows. Percentage change is share-count change divided by the previous count; new positions or missing/zero bases show N/A. Sorting the percentage column uses that percentage, not the absolute share change.

How to Interpret the Returned Rows

Check Reporting Context

Read each row’s report date, filing date and instrument label. A share position, put or call may represent different exposure; do not combine them as if all were ordinary shares.

Investigate Position Changes

A quarterly change can reflect trading, corporate actions or reporting differences. It does not reveal when a trade occurred, its execution price or whether a manager is bullish.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who files Form 13F?

The reporting threshold concerns investment discretion over at least $100 million in Section 13(f) securities, subject to the rule’s timing and other conditions. It is not a threshold based simply on total firm assets. Managers include more than hedge funds, and filings cover specified reportable securities rather than every portfolio asset.

How current are the positions?

Form 13F reports quarter-end positions and is generally due within 45 days, with deadline adjustments for weekends and holidays. Provider processing adds delay. This page requests data when you search or change quarter, and responses may be cached for ten minutes. The previous calendar quarter is a default selection, not a guarantee of complete filings.

Do the totals include every shareholder?

No. The tool requests the first 100 provider rows. The manager card counts distinct available CIKs within those rows, and the value card sums available reported values. Amendments, overlapping reporting and instrument classes are not reconciled; these sums are not total company ownership or a complete ownership percentage.

Does a position increase prove the manager bought shares?

It shows a reported change between snapshots, not a dated trade. Corporate actions, transfers, amendments and provider coverage can affect comparisons. The page derives share-change percent only with a positive previous share count; new or missing bases show N/A. The table does not establish transaction price, motivation or future returns.

What information is missing from 13F?

Short positions are not reported or subtracted from long holdings on Form 13F. Many other assets are outside its scope, and confidential treatment can delay public disclosure. Read the original filing and security class before treating a manager’s visible holdings as their entire portfolio.

Is the tracker free?

The public page has no payment or registration step. Tickers, quarters and rows remain subject to provider coverage and availability. A failed company-profile request does not by itself mean no holdings exist.
