Read the announcement and the filing separately
An earnings release summarizes a company’s results. It is not interchangeable with a periodic financial filing or an analyst consensus dataset. U.S. reporting companies commonly furnish releases with Form 8-K; Form 10-Q and Form 10-K serve separate periodic reporting purposes. This tool displays selected provider fields, not those documents.
How to use the returned records
- Enter a ticker and select Search. A valid ticker may still have no provider coverage.
- Optionally set a display limit from 1 to 1,000. Rows are sorted by announcement date, newest first, then limited and paginated. The date is not necessarily the fiscal period end.
- Read both the values and their comparison labels. For example, EPS of -0.20 is above an estimate of -0.30, although the company still reports a loss.
- Export the displayed dataset to CSV. The export includes every row within the applied display limit, not only the visible table page.
A beat is not a price forecast
The table compares actuals with estimates. Guidance, margins, cash flow, valuation and expectations beyond the displayed consensus can influence the market response. A revenue miss is not by itself proof of falling revenue; it is a comparison with an estimate, not a prior period.
Check definitions before drawing conclusions
The endpoint does not establish currency, whether EPS is GAAP or adjusted, the consensus timestamp, or whether a record was subsequently revised. Do not combine EPS and revenue units, interpret missing cells as zero, or treat returned estimates as a point-in-time historical dataset. Verify consequential figures against the issuer’s release and filing.
