What Are Data-Driven Top Stock Picks?
This page produces a research shortlist from a limited set of provider-returned US-company candidates. It combines market-cap, price, sector and volume criteria with analyst ratings and price targets. It does not label the whole market by investment quality.
The final list requires a Buy or Strong Buy consensus and a target-price gap of at least 15%. That cutoff is a screening choice, not a validated return signal. Candidates without usable quotes, ratings or targets are excluded, including when a data request fails.
How to Use Data-Driven Top Stock Picks
- 1
Choose Numerical Presets
Choose a preset based on the numerical market-cap and reported-volume limits shown in its name. The dividend preset adds a last-annual-dividend-to-price ratio. None of these presets measures earnings growth, institutional preference or dividend consistency.
- 2
Define Your Fundamental Criteria
Select a sector, market-cap floor, price bounds and reported-volume minimum. Advanced settings include a US exchange and optional dividend/price threshold. The request reads at most 50 returned candidates; the dividend ratio is then checked locally.
- 3
Review Analyst Consensus
The page requests the provider consensus label for each candidate with a usable quote. Buy and Strong Buy are rating categories, not proof that most analysts agree or that any analyst forecast will be correct.
- 4
Compare Target-Price Gaps
Compare the consensus target with the reference quote. A price of 100 and target of 130 produces a 30% gap. The ranking has no common forecast horizon, target-date filter or measurement of forecast accuracy.
How to Interpret the Shortlist
Transparent Methodology
The filtering rules are visible: returned subset, available data, provider rating and target-gap cutoff. Inspect missing-data counts before interpreting a short list or an empty result.
Provider Consensus
Provider consensus aggregates analyst opinions. It can be affected by coverage, timing and shared assumptions; aggregation does not remove bias or establish investment quality.
Customizable Criteria
Change numerical bounds and rerun the screen. A changed filter clears prior results so a previous list is not presented as the output of new criteria.
How the Data-Driven Methodology Works
The first request asks for active US companies on NYSE, NASDAQ or AMEX, excluding funds and ETFs. It passes the selected fundamental bounds and caps the response at 50, without fetching later pages.
The second request obtains reference quotes for those symbols. Missing or invalid prices are excluded. The optional dividend ratio uses the screener annual-dividend amount and the quote price; neither P/E nor earnings-growth data is fetched by this workflow.
The third stage requests consensus ratings and targets in batches of five candidates. Only usable Buy or Strong Buy records with a gap of at least 15% remain. The displayed ranking sorts that subset by gap; it is not a whole-market forecast.
