Calculate a sale scenario, then check execution costs
Select an asset with an available USD quote. Enter the USD purchase price per unit, the quantity you intend to sell and the sale-fee percentage. Calculation requests another quote. The result does not record a transaction or verify your holdings.
Formula and example
Gross proceeds = reference quote × quantity. Sale fee = gross proceeds × fee percentage ÷ 100. Net proceeds = gross proceeds − sale fee. Modeled P&L = net proceeds − purchase price × quantity.
For an illustrative 0.5 coins bought at $50,000 and a $60,000 quote, gross proceeds are $30,000. A 0.1% sale fee is $30, leaving $29,970 and $4,970 of modeled profit. The percentage return is 19.88% on the $25,000 entered cost.
A quote above purchase price does not guarantee positive net P&L. Buying at $100 and selling at $100.05 with a 0.1% sale fee produces a small loss. The fee-adjusted break-even price is purchase price ÷ (1 − fee percentage ÷ 100) when the fee is below 100%.
Use your order's fee terms
The fee field represents a nonnegative percentage of sale proceeds. It does not cover purchase fees, rebates, network costs, withdrawals, taxes or price differences caused by spread and slippage. A fee charged in another asset may need a separate conversion.
Coinbase Advanced's fee guidance explains that rates vary by product, tier and liquidity role. An immediately filled limit order can be a taker order; a limit order is not automatically a maker order. Check your own account and order preview instead of applying a fixed platform-wide rate.
What this result cannot decide
This calculation does not determine when to sell, forecast a price, select tax lots or estimate tax relief. A quote is not a promise that the whole quantity can fill at that price. Compare the venue's available price, fees and expected fill with this reference before relying on the amount.
