Core Tradeoffs

Define the Evidence You Need Before Paying

Event Time and Display Time

The time of a market event, the time it reaches a window and the time an order fills are separate measurements. A vendor describing real-time data does not establish an end-to-end delay or prove a trading advantage.

Comparable Rules and Costs

Keep the universe, session, price source and threshold fixed when comparing results. More visible columns do not prove better predictions, and a backtest should include entry, exit and transaction-cost assumptions.

Annual Commitment and Required Features

Use the table to compare the amount charged, not just an annual price divided by twelve. Confirm that the plan includes the feature you need and review renewal or cancellation terms. Price alone does not establish value for a trading style.

An Alert and a Current Match Can Disagree

Imagine a stock crossing $50 at 10:00:02 and returning to $49.95 by 10:00:10. An event alert can preserve the crossing, while a later screen asking whether price is above $50 can exclude the stock. Both can be correct: one records an event, the other evaluates a state. These invented times illustrate the distinction; they are not a latency measurement.

Trade Ideas' current scanner page describes Top Lists updating every 15 seconds; its New Tab user guide says 30 seconds. The consistent distinction is that Top Lists refresh periodically while Alert windows report events. Confirm the actual version and window before designing a time-sensitive process around either number.

For a separate hypothetical results check, 60 winners averaging $1 and 40 losers averaging $2 produce 60% winning trades but a net loss of $20 before costs. A high win rate or an AI label alone cannot establish a profitable strategy. Review the trade sample, losses and costs, then test a rule on data not used to choose it.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Finviz Elite and Trade Ideas?

Finviz Elite combines research filters, maps, configurable tables and charts. Trade Ideas offers event-based Alert windows and ranked Top Lists, with additional testing and automation features depending on the plan. Compare the type of output you need before comparing speed.

Does every Trade Ideas window stream individual events?

No. Alert windows display events as they occur, while Top Lists periodically refresh a ranked set of matching symbols. Current feature pages and the user guide give different Top List intervals. Verify the version and window you will use; do not treat every table as a tick-by-tick feed.

Is Holly AI Assistant the same as Premium AI Signals?

No. Trade Ideas describes its natural-language Holly AI Assistant as available in TI Pro on every plan. The current Premium plan separately lists AI Signals, backtesting and Auto Trading. Check the named feature rather than assuming all uses of Holly have identical access requirements.

Does paying for Trade Ideas automatically place trades?

A subscription alone does not connect a brokerage account or enable a strategy. Live execution requires the supported broker connection and configured controls in the desktop workflow. Simulation, a notification and an actual filled order are different events.

What does Pineify Market Screener add?

It offers a separate collection of supported technical readings, with eight selectable intervals and up to 20 indicator columns. Full access requires an account and Expert or higher. It does not reproduce Holly, import either platform’s rules, export the matrix as Pine code or execute trades.
