Search by CUSIP

Enter an identifier and search.

Data: Financial Modeling Prep. Requests may use a cache for up to ten minutes; Refresh does not guarantee a new quote. Missing matches do not prove an identifier is invalid. Market-cap currency and observation time are not supplied by this lookup, so do not compare values across listings without checking them. A provider-reported zero is not evidence that a company has no value.

What is a CUSIP Number?

A CUSIP (Committee on Uniform Securities Identification Procedures) number is a unique 9-character alphanumeric identifier assigned to financial securities in the United States and Canada. The first six characters identify the issuer, the next two characters identify the specific issue, and the last character is a check digit. For example, Apple Inc.'s common stock has the CUSIP number 037833100. CUSIP numbers are essential for clearing and settlement of trades, regulatory reporting, and accurate identification of securities across different trading platforms and financial institutions.

100% Free

The lookup is free to use. Pineify’s separate paid products have their own access requirements.

Data limits and sources

Returned market-cap values have no currency or observation timestamp in this endpoint. Missing values display as N/A. Refresh can reuse the ten-minute server cache. When importing CSV into a spreadsheet, set identifier columns to text to preserve leading zeros. A code that has the expected format is not necessarily issued or valid.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a CUSIP number?

A CUSIP is a nine-character identifier for a specific issue, used mainly in the United States and Canada. Its first six characters identify the issuer, the next two the issue, and the final character is a check digit. An issuer can have many different securities and CUSIPs.

Is this CUSIP lookup tool free?

Yes. This public lookup does not require a Pineify subscription or sign-in. It queries Financial Modeling Prep (FMP), whose coverage and service availability limit the results. A valid code may return no match; this is not the complete CUSIP registry.

How do I find a CUSIP number?

Check the specific security on a brokerage confirmation, issuer document or applicable SEC filing. Enter the full identifier including leading zeros. This tool searches by CUSIP, not by company name, and does not certify the security for settlement.

What is the difference between CUSIP, ISIN, and ticker symbol?

CUSIP has nine characters; ISIN has twelve. U.S. and Canadian ISINs generally embed a CUSIP, but not every ISIN worldwide does. A ticker identifies a listing in an exchange or data-provider context. Different share classes, bonds and depositary receipts can have different identifiers.

Identified the Security? Build a Strategy Around It

If the instrument has a supported TradingView chart, Pineify’s separate coding tools can help draft an indicator or strategy. Inspect and test the code; a lookup match does not establish chart availability, broker execution or expected returns. Coding access depends on your plan.
