WealthCharts vs TradingView: indicators, scanning and custom rules

WealthCharts is worth evaluating when you want its packaged scanners and proprietary studies in one membership. TradingView is worth evaluating when your workflow centers on Pine indicators, custom scans and chart-based strategy tests. Both document custom scripting and backtesting. Choose by the rules, scan universe and data you need, rather than assuming one platform can reproduce the other platform's protected indicators.

Charts, scanners and custom rules: the documented differences

The official WealthCharts feature pages describe a combined technical and fundamental scanning workflow. TradingView documents both standard screeners and a separate Pine Screener. These are useful entry points, but matching feature names do not establish matching calculations or access to the same instruments.

Compare the billing term and the workspace limit together

The public USD pages checked on October 17, 2026 showed the offers below. Annual equivalents are not month-to-month charges. TradingView labeled the quoted paid rates as special prices; checkout, eligibility, taxes and future offers can differ. These entries illustrate documented choices, not equivalent feature bundles.

  • A workspace requiring four simultaneous charts and eight indicators on each exceeds Essential's listed limits and fits Plus's numerical limits. Other requirements can still change the appropriate plan. An unlimited layout allowance also says nothing about speed on your device.
  • WealthCharts lists scanners, WealthScript and its backtester in the membership. This review did not verify the current TradingView Pine Screener entitlement in a logged-in account; confirm access before subscribing for that task.
  • TradingView states that paid software does not include all exchange fees. Obtain a quote for the exact exchange, live status and account classification on each platform. WealthCharts data entitlements and broker-specific bundles were not tested here.

A scanner label can hide a different universe or calculation

WealthScanner offers market lists, custom watchlists, trader-type settings and a proprietary WealthScore. Its knowledge base says a custom watchlist can display all applicable symbols regardless of whether their score falls inside the usual bullish or bearish range. Presence in that list is therefore not proof that a chosen threshold passed.

  • For TradingView Pine Screener, select Products → Screeners → Pine, then choose the source, indicator and filters. Its documented limits include one indicator per screen, the last 500 bars for calculation and supported fixed timeframes. Strategies are not supported there.
  • This review did not establish that arbitrary WealthScript code can run inside every WealthCharts scanner. Ask the provider to demonstrate your particular custom filter on your intended universe before treating it as a replacement for Pine Screener.
  • Record the actual symbol list, timestamp and session. Compare raw inputs and a binary match column before comparing ranked outputs. A proprietary WealthScore has no assumed Pine equivalent.

Use one owned rule as a migration acceptance test

Consider this hypothetical rule you define yourself: after a daily candle closes, mark it when its close is strictly above the mean of the latest three closes, including the current close, and is strictly above the previous close. Require three valid observations. This small fixture tests lookback placement and equality handling; it is not a trading recommendation or a reproduction of a WealthCharts study.

  • On an unfinished candle, suppress the signal even if its current price passes. Compare completed bars using the same exchange-qualified symbol, daily session, timezone and adjustment settings.
  • Expose the mean, previous close and final match in each implementation. If values disagree, locate the first different input before changing the threshold. WealthScript source cannot be pasted unchanged into Pine Editor.
  • A protected indicator name, chart color or screenshot does not supply its formula. Request an authorized rule specification or keep using that study in its original platform.
Closes, oldest to newestThree-close meanExpected result
98, 100, 102(98 + 100 + 102) / 3 = 100Pass: 102 > 100 and 102 > 100
98, 102, 102302 / 3 = 100.6667Fail: the current close equals the previous close
104, 98, 101303 / 3 = 101Fail: the current close equals the mean

Open the backtester only after defining the orders

In WealthCharts, open Strategy Back Tester and choose Set up backtest, then specify the symbol, timeframe and dates. Select a compatible strategy, capital and trade size before executing. The documentation warns that incompatible strategies appear disabled. In TradingView, add a Pine strategy to the chart and inspect its report. An indicator that marks the fixture above still needs entries, exits and position sizing.

  • Specify whether a match enters only while flat, when the order is created, how exits work and whether repeated signals can add positions. Use the same test interval and costs on both platforms.
  • TradingView normally fills a market order on the next available tick; in a historical bar-close calculation, that is normally the next bar open. Do not assume WealthCharts uses the same fill setting without checking the selected strategy and report.
  • Hypothetical share example: a signal closes at $102, but the next open is $103. A 10-share order costs $1,030 before fees, versus $1,020 at the signal close. The $10 difference is a timing assumption, not evidence that one platform found a better trade.
  • Compare individual signal times, order times, quantities and fills before comparing profit totals. This review did not test cross-platform fill equivalence, intrabar behavior, available history or execution latency. Historical simulations do not predict returns.

Use Pineify for the rules you can specify

Once you choose TradingView for an owned rule, give the Pine Script AI Coding Agent the calculation, completed-bar requirement and expected pass/fail fixture. The product supports creating and editing code artifacts and requesting syntax diagnostics. Inspect the generated Pine, request its syntax check, then compare chart values against the fixture.

  • For a strategy, add the entry timing, exit conditions, position size and cost assumptions to that request. A scanner condition alone leaves these decisions undefined.
  • Syntax diagnostics do not establish equivalent data or correct trade behavior. This workflow does not read protected WealthCharts scripts, migrate accounts or execute trades.
