TradingView Strategy Parameter Optimization — Automated

Define the values you want to test, then use Pineify Supercharged to apply that grid in TradingView and collect the results. Advanced or Expert access is required. The current implementation automates grid search; candidate selection and separate-period validation remain research steps you control.

Make Parameter Experiments Reproducible

Repeated input changes make experiments hard to track.

A defined grid gives every selected combination a place in the experiment.

The extension applies those combinations and records available results; inspect run status before assuming the grid completed.

A high-ranked backtest may depend on the chosen history.

Searching many configurations can favor results that fit the observed sample.

Reserve a holdout period and test selected candidates separately. Pineify does not automate this validation or assign a stability score.

Unclear ranges make comparisons difficult to reproduce.

Range endpoints and steps determine which combinations are actually tested.

Specify them before running, then preserve the settings and result export together.

Three Steps from Search to Review

01

Grid Search

Three inputs with 10 values each create 1,000 combinations. The extension iterates the configured grid and records available metrics; values outside the grid are not searched.

02

Manual Holdout Evaluation

After choosing candidates on a training period, configure a separate test period yourself. Preserve costs and settings and avoid repeatedly tuning against the holdout.

03

Separate CSV Report Review

Export a chosen run’s TradingView trade-list CSV for Backtest Deep Report, not the optimizer’s parameter-results CSV. Its bootstrap analysis samples trade P&L with replacement; it is separate from parameter search and cannot validate new market regimes.

What the Extension Handles

TradingView Extension Workflow

Install Supercharged and open the strategy in TradingView. Confirm supported inputs before starting and keep the required chart session available.

Defined Grid Search

Set explicit values or ranges and steps. The current optimizer uses a Cartesian grid; genetic search and automatic walk-forward are not implemented.

Supported Settings Controls

The extension works with supported numeric and selectable strategy settings. Check that each selected input applies as intended before expanding the grid.

Recorded Results

Review collected profit, drawdown and trade metrics in a sortable table and export result rows to CSV for further analysis.

Advanced or Expert Access

Strategy Optimizer requires Advanced or Expert. Plus does not include this feature. Confirm current plan terms before purchasing.

A Hypothetical Grid Example

Take an EMA crossover with 10 fast-length values, 10 slow-length values and 5 stop values. This explicitly defined grid contains 10 × 10 × 5 = 500 combinations. Different step sizes produce different counts.

After the run, inspect completion status and compare the collected net profit, drawdown, profit factor and trade count. No measured runtime or return is implied by this example; the outcome depends on the actual strategy, data and settings.

Choose candidates using the training period, then configure a separate holdout run manually. Keep costs and other settings consistent. Investigate changed performance instead of treating a single result as proof of an edge.

When Manual Testing Still Wins

  • →
A small candidate list. A short list of explicit trials may be practical to run and record manually.
  • →
Strategy logic is not stable. Resolve logic, lookahead, repainting and cost-model issues before comparing large numbers of parameter sets.
  • →
Still prototyping. Record the strategy version with each experiment so code changes are not confused with parameter effects.
