Options flow research

Choose an options flow scanner for the data you need

The best options flow scanner depends on whether you need a trade tape, a delayed volume report, historical records or a research workspace. Compare those jobs separately before paying for a bundle.

Unusual WhalesFree dashboard data is delayed; paid dashboard plans include real-time flow. API access is a separate product.Filter an options trade feed and work with alerts, saved filters and related analytics.Confirm the dashboard/API entitlement, history and export limits for your plan.
FlowAlgoSubscription with a paid two-week introductory offer; renewal is automatic unless cancelled.Options flow, historical lookups, voice alerts and equity block data in one interface. The provider discloses variable delivery delays. A real-time label is not a fixed latency guarantee.
Market ChameleonFree registration features and paid research plans; intraday market data is described as 15-minute delayed.Options volume, earnings and volatility context, plus chain and historical research.A volume report is not an unfiltered low-latency transaction feed. Check the specific report entitlement.

Public contract tools have separate limits.Inspect options activity alongside market research and Pine Script development workflows. The Options Flow view polls every 60 seconds. Script generation does not import external flow into TradingView.

Begin with a data requirement, not a star rating

For tape reading, require contract identity, trade and receipt times, size, price, quote references and trade conditions. For a daily research list, a delayed volume or open-interest report may be sufficient. For historical testing, you need records that preserve what was available at the time of the decision.

The provider descriptions above summarize published capabilities and Pineify’s current implementation. We have not performed a controlled latency benchmark or a trading-performance comparison. Neither a larger feature list nor a higher subscription price establishes better trading results.

Test coverage and classification on the same window

Choose the same underlying, expiration range and market interval in each candidate. Record the active filters, sample cap and timezone. Compare individual contract records before comparing aggregate premium. Missing rows may reflect filters, pagination or feed delivery rather than absent trading.

Ask how the service handles multi-leg trades, corrections and bid/ask inference. An ask-side call print is not proof of a new long position. A sweep label does not reveal the beneficial owner or make a trade predictive. These distinctions matter more than an unexplained bullish score.

Separate live observation from historical testing

Check whether the historical product includes the original quote context and subsequent corrections. A chart showing later price movement is not a replay of the information available when the print arrived. If an export omits timestamps or trade conditions, retain that limitation in any analysis.

During an evaluation, log a fixed set of observation times and record the source timestamp and arrival time. Define acceptable delays and missing-data behavior before looking at outcomes. A few memorable winning examples cannot establish that a scanner produces an edge.

Compare the purchase you will actually use

Read renewal terms, exchange-data eligibility, export rights and account limits. A website subscription may not include API access, and an introductory trial may cover fewer features than the advertised bundle. Monthly-equivalent annual prices require a different commitment from month-to-month billing.

Pineify is relevant when you want Market Insights and script development in the same account. A dedicated tape or specialized historical dataset may fit a different task better. Use the public tools below to inspect a limited contract snapshot before deciding whether a paid workspace meets your requirements.

Questions about this workflow

Which scanner is best for beginners?

Start with a delayed report that exposes contract fields and timestamps, then practice explaining what each field does and does not establish. Pay for a live feed only when your research process requires its timing and you can evaluate that timing.

Does this comparison rank scanner performance?

No. It compares documented access and workflows. We have no controlled dataset supporting a speed ranking, accuracy percentage or profit score.

Does Pineify replace a specialist options-flow API?

The Market Insights interface and script development tools serve a different workflow from licensing raw transaction data. Confirm API, history and redistribution needs with the relevant data provider.

Can I copy large trades and expect the same result?

No. The original position, other legs, hedge, execution price and exit may be unknown. A later copy can have a different spread, price and risk even when the contract matches.
