Interactive Drawing Tool

Free Trendline & Angle Analyzer

Draw manual segments over daily OHLC data and inspect their geometric angles in a fixed drawing frame. Angles depend on chart scales and do not establish trend strength or profitability.

What This Drawing Measures

Upload daily OHLC data, choose Draw, and tap or click two different points inside the chart. The segment joins your chosen pixels; it does not snap to a candle, identify a high or low, or validate support and resistance. Use Select or the line table to choose a segment for deletion. Up to 20 lines are supported.

Why a Screen Angle Is Not Trend Strength

The horizontal axis gives every uploaded row equal space. The vertical axis maps the data range to a linear-price plot. Changing the number of rows, the price range, or the aspect ratio changes how a market move appears. A 45-degree line cannot establish a sustainable trend, and a steeper line is not evidence of an imminent reversal.

This implementation keeps a fixed 800 × 400 logical frame and scales the complete image uniformly to the available width. Saved lines therefore stay aligned with the same imported series when the viewport changes. This stabilizes the drawing; it does not make its angles comparable with another chart’s scale.

Angle Convention

A segment’s orientation is measured from the horizontal, read left to right, between −90 and 90 degrees. Vertical lines are labeled 90 degrees without a market direction. Reversing the drawing order leaves the same orientation. Between two segments the table reports the smaller undirected angle, from 0 to 90 degrees. It does not report a wedge probability or a pattern classification.

Data and Storage

Use ascending daily YYYY-MM-DD dates with positive finite OHLC values, open and close within each high-low range, and 2–5,000 rows. Import is limited to 2 MiB. The initial 20-row series is synthetic and has no instrument identity. A successful new import clears lines because their coordinates belong to the old series; invalid files leave the current project intact.

The page attempts to save the data and lines as one local browser project. Storage errors are displayed. Browser storage is not encrypted backup and can be cleared; no file is sent to a server by this tool. Older saved pixel coordinates have no recorded frame size and are preserved in their old storage keys without being interpreted as valid new drawings.

Export and Review

Finish or cancel the current segment before exporting a flattened PNG. A drawing is an annotation, not a backtest or trade instruction. If you want to test a strategy, specify the data-coordinate rules, signal timing, entries, exits, sizing, and costs independently. This tool neither generates Pine Script from lines nor places orders.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does this trendline tool measure?

It draws the straight segments you select over a linear-price OHLC chart and reports their angles in a fixed 800 × 400 drawing frame. It does not detect trendlines, confirm patterns, or compute trading signals.

Does a 45-degree angle establish trend strength?

No. A screen angle depends on the horizontal and vertical scales, the data range, and chart dimensions. The same price movement can have a different angle on another chart. A pixel angle does not establish momentum, support reliability, sustainability, or profitability.

What angle is shown between two lines?

The tool reports the smaller undirected angle from 0 to 90 degrees. Reversing the order in which you draw a segment does not change its orientation. Parallel segments have a zero-degree difference, even if drawn in opposite directions.

What data can I import?

Use daily CSV or JSON records with date, open, high, low, and close. Dates must be valid, unique, ascending YYYY-MM-DD values; prices must be positive and open/close within the high-low range. The limit is 2 MiB and 2–5,000 rows. The initial 20 candles are synthetic. A valid new import clears existing lines.

Are drawings saved or uploaded?

The tool attempts to save the data and up to 20 lines together in this browser’s local storage. Storage can be blocked, full, or cleared; an error means the current work is available only in memory. There is no file upload request or cloud backup. Export PNG saves a flattened image, not an editable project. The older storage format is not reused because it lacked a fixed drawing-frame size.
