What is a Trading Chart Annotator?

A trading chart annotator is an image markup tool for traders who want to document, analyze, and share their market analysis. It allows you to take screenshots of your trading charts from platforms like TradingView, MetaTrader, or any broker platform, and add visual annotations such as trend lines, support and resistance levels, entry and exit points, and text notes.

This tool reads your selected image into a browser canvas and exports a flattened PNG. It has no screenshot upload request or saved account workspace. Your annotations are temporary: download them before refreshing or loading another image. Markings document your interpretation; they do not verify a trading signal.

How to Use the Trading Chart Annotator

  1. 1

    Capture Your Trading Chart

Take a screenshot of your trading chart from TradingView, MetaTrader, or any trading platform. Most platforms have built-in screenshot features, or you can use your operating system's screenshot tool.

  2. 2

    Upload Your Screenshot

Click the "Upload Chart" button and select your screenshot file. PNG, JPEG, and WebP are supported within the limits shown above. The tool fits a still snapshot within 1200 × 800 pixels before annotation.

  3. 3

    Select Your Drawing Tools

Choose from pencil for freehand drawing, straight lines for trend lines, horizontal lines for support/resistance, rectangles and circles for highlighting areas, or text for adding labels and notes.

  4. 4

    Customize Colors and Size

Pick from our color palette to match your annotation style. Use red for stop losses, green for take profits, blue for entries, or any color that suits your preference. Adjust the line thickness for visibility.

  5. 5

    Download Your Annotated Chart

When you're satisfied with your annotations, click the "Download" button to save your annotated chart as a PNG file. Share it in your trading journal, social media, or trading community.

Why Use Our Trading Chart Annotator?

Drawing and Text Tools

Freehand pencil, straight lines, horizontal lines, rectangles, ellipses, and text annotations for chart markup. Erase annotations without deleting the screenshot.

Browser Image Processing

The image workflow uses your browser canvas and makes no screenshot upload request. Website analytics and anything you choose to share are separate from that workflow.

Undo/Redo Support

Undo and redo drawing actions. Clear removes annotations and resets undo history; a new image starts a new session.

PNG at Canvas Resolution

Download the screenshot and annotations as one PNG, at up to 1200 × 800 pixels. Large originals are downscaled; editable drawing layers and original resolution are not retained.

Customizable Colors

Choose from a variety of colors to create clear, visually appealing annotations that match your trading style.

Free Browser Tool

This annotation tool currently requires no payment or account. Pineify coding and research products have separate plans.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I annotate?

Load a chart screenshot and manually add pencil strokes, straight or horizontal lines, rectangles, ellipses, and text. The tool does not read prices, detect patterns, or connect to a trading account.

Which image files can I use?

Choose a PNG, JPEG, or WebP file up to 10 MiB and 32 million decoded pixels. The tool takes a still snapshot, fits it within 1200 × 800 pixels without enlarging it, and preserves its aspect ratio. It does not preserve animation.

What does Download save?

Download saves a flattened PNG at the displayed canvas resolution, including the original image and current annotations. It does not save editable drawing layers or restore a session after refresh. Download before leaving; loading another image clears the current annotations.

Does this tool upload my screenshot?

The file reader, canvas drawing, and PNG export run in your browser; this tool has no screenshot upload request or server-side image storage. This describes the image workflow, not a guarantee about all website analytics, browser extensions, or files you choose to share.

How do erasing and undo work?

The eraser removes annotation pixels while retaining the original screenshot. Undo and redo step through drawing actions. Clear removes all annotations and resets undo history. View mode stops drawing; it does not select, move, or edit existing objects.

Turn Written Rules into a Script Draft

Describe the conditions behind your annotations, then use Pineify to draft Pine Script rules. This annotator does not convert drawings into code. Review and test generated scripts in TradingView; coding and research access depends on your plan.
