The Optimiser vs OptiPie vs Pineify Strategy Optimizer
Choose an optimizer by the workflow you need to repeat and the results you can inspect. Pineify automates parameter combinations in TradingView. Walk-forward validation requires you to configure separate training and test periods; it is not an automatic optimizer mode. Backtest Deep Report provides a separate CSV-based Monte Carlo workflow.
Compare installation, search, and validation separately
The Optimiser is a browser extension whose published controls include random, sequential, annealing and brute-force searches, plus in/out-of-sample testing subject to TradingView access. OptiPie publishes an open-source extension with free and Plus features; its version 2.0 release introduced Walk-Forward Analysis. Review each project’s current installation instructions and commercial terms before choosing it. This page does not reproduce unverified competitor prices or promise that any optimizer finds a profitable strategy. Pineify’s Strategy Optimizer enumerates parameter combinations and runs them against the strategy and chart configuration you select. Its current implementation uses grid search, not a genetic algorithm. The extension and Backtest Deep Report are included from Advanced. AI code generation is a separate workflow; generated code still needs review and platform validation.
How It Works
- 1
Load a strategy in TradingView and record the symbol, chart interval, date range, costs, and position-sizing settings.
- 2
Define a manageable set of input values. The number of combinations multiplies across parameters, so inspect the total before starting.
- 3
Run the parameter search on a training interval. Compare several neighboring settings rather than selecting only the largest historical profit.
- 4
For manual walk-forward testing, freeze the chosen values and evaluate a later, unused interval. Configure and record each window yourself; the optimizer does not automatically split or stitch these periods.
- 5
If using Backtest Deep Report, export a supported trade CSV and inspect bootstrap scenarios separately. Resampling observed P&L is not evidence of out-of-sample profitability.
Workflow and verification checklist
| Feature | Pineify Strategy Optimizer | The Optimiser | OptiPie |
|---|---|---|---|
| Setup source | Pineify Strategy Optimizer extension | Official installation guide and account verification | Official site and public extension repository |
| Parameter search | Grid search over configured values | Random, sequential, annealing and brute-force controls | Grid search and saved optimization reports |
| Walk-forward validation | Manual period setup and separate evaluation | In/out-of-sample testing documented; not proof of rolling WFA | Walk-Forward Analysis documented from version 2.0 |
| Monte Carlo | Separate Backtest Deep Report, from a trade CSV | Verify current product scope | Verify current product scope |
| Access and cost | Optimizer and report require Advanced or above | Check current account and access conditions | Open-source extension with free and Plus feature tiers |
Example Research Tasks
Example: a moving-average strategy
Example question
“How should I compare fast and slow moving-average lengths?”
Illustrative response
Define candidate ranges and a training interval, then review the result surface. Freeze one rule before testing later data. Record all trials and costs. This example specifies a process; it does not claim a winning NVDA parameter pair or a measured return.
Example: five independent parameters
Example question
“What happens if each of five inputs has ten candidate values?”
Illustrative response
The full grid contains 10 × 10 × 10 × 10 × 10 = 100,000 combinations. Check the extension’s current limits and narrow the research question before running. There is no verified ten-times-faster genetic mode in Pineify.
Example: report review after optimization
Example question
“Does a strong Monte Carlo result validate the optimized strategy?”
Illustrative response
No. The report resamples the observed trade P&L. Selection bias, omitted regimes, costs, and dependence between trades can remain. Compare a previously unused period separately and document where the strategy fails.
