Trading Psychology Self-Assessment
Reflect on your trading habits using 18 questions and six self-rating averages. The worksheet has no validation study: scores do not measure personality, expertise, psychological health or future returns.
Reflection questionnaire v2: answer from a chosen review period. Scores summarize selected answers, not measured traits or investing ability. History retains at most 10 results in this browser.

What is Trading Psychology?
These questions ask how you describe your habits when making trading decisions. They do not observe your behavior or account results. There is no evidence here for attributing a fixed percentage of trading success to psychology or for identifying profitable traders from these answers.
Use answers as prompts for reviewing records
Choose a defined period before answering. For an item about following a plan, compare your answer with dated plans, fills and notes. A self-rating can change because of memory, interpretation or the selected period; it does not prove that behavior or performance changed.
The six question categories
- Discipline: your reported use of plans, journals and loss limits.
- Emotional control: your reported reactions after losses and adherence to planned exits.
- Risk planning: whether you record loss assumptions, position limits and overnight exposure. Comfort with risk is not a reason to take more of it.
- Patience: your reported willingness to wait for written criteria and review exits against the plan.
- Adaptability: your reported review and testing of rule changes, invalidations and learning.
- Confidence: your reported execution of plans, review of counter-evidence and response to drawdown limits. Unconditional confidence is not the goal.
How to use this worksheet
- Answer all 18 questions from the same review period. If a prompt does not fit your trading process, note that limitation rather than interpreting the score as an objective assessment.
- Read the individual responses alongside the six averages. No completion-time benchmark or required retest schedule is established.
- Choose one prompt to check against records. Write the observation and any unresolved question; do not change financial risk based on the score.
- Export the latest summary if you need a copy. Browser history retains only 10 results; exports do not contain raw answers.
How the arithmetic works
Each category averages three selected values from 1 to 4. The overall score equally averages six categories, which also equals the mean of the 18 answers. For example, category answers 2, 3 and 4 average 3.0. These are ordinal response values summarized for convenience, not calibrated measurements of a trait.
Display bands are 1.00–1.99, 2.00–2.74, 2.75–3.49 and 3.50–4.00, using unrounded scores at the thresholds. They are editorial groupings with no demonstrated relationship to expertise, profit or health. A higher band is not permission to increase position size.
Version v2 changed risk, patience, adaptability and confidence prompts. Earlier saved summaries are marked legacy and retain their numerical scores, with unsupported personality labels removed. Do not read a difference between versions as improvement.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this questionnaire scientifically validated?
No validation study or calibrated benchmark is provided for these questions or scoring bands. This is a reflection worksheet, not a psychological test, personality diagnosis, investing qualification or predictor of returns.
How are the scores calculated?
Each of six categories has three answers valued 1 to 4. The tool averages those three values, then equally averages the six category scores. Higher numbers mean higher selected self-ratings, not verified skill. Category ranks with equal scores use the displayed category order.
What is stored?
When browser storage is available, this tool keeps in-progress answers and the most recent 10 result summaries locally. It makes no assessment upload request or account sync. Storage is not encrypted by this tool and can be removed by clearing site data; these facts do not guarantee privacy from other browser users, extensions or website analytics.
Can I export or compare results?
Export Results downloads the latest result summary as JSON. It does not export raw answers or import a backup. Earlier results are marked legacy because v2 changed several questions. Compare only the same question version and review period, and do not interpret a higher self-rating as proven psychological growth.
What should I do with a low or high score?
Review individual answers against actual records. The prompts are generic suggestions based on self-ratings. Neither score level justifies changing position size, demonstrates a trading edge or replaces a separate evaluation of financial risk.
