Stop below entry means Long; stop above entry means Short. Targets must be above entry for Long and below entry for Short. All values use the same price units.

Compare Planned Exit Levels

This visualizer compares planned price levels, not executed trades. Risk per unit is the absolute entry-to-stop distance; target gain uses the direction of the position. Stops can fill away from their trigger price, and fees, slippage, position size, contract multipliers, and borrowing costs are not included.

Why Visualizing Risk Matters

A diagram of planned levels helps you compare these inputs:

  • Assess Risk/Reward Ratios: Compare planned target gain with entry-to-stop distance. A large ratio does not measure how likely either level is to be hit.
  • Plan Multi-Target Exits: Compare several price targets separately. The tool has no exit allocation weights, so it does not calculate a blended scale-out return.
  • Record Assumptions: Save the levels you intend to review. Saving a plan does not guarantee adherence or execution.

See the SEC investor bulletin on stop orders for the difference between a stop trigger and an execution price.

How to Use This Tool

  1. 1

    Enter Your Levels

Input your planned Entry Price and Stop Loss. The tool will calculate planned risk per unit in the entered price currency.

  2. 2

    Set Targets

Add one or more Take Profit targets. See the Risk/Reward (R:R) ratio for each target dynamically.

  3. 3

    Save Your Plan

Save your setup to this browser profile. Storage can be cleared or unavailable; there is no cross-device account sync.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a good Risk/Reward ratio?

There is no universally profitable ratio. If every gross winner earns 2R and every loser loses 1R, break-even is 1 / (1 + 2), or about 33.3%, before costs. Partial exits, different realized losses, fees, and slippage change that threshold.

Is my data saved on a server?

This tool calculates in your browser and saves plans to localStorage; its save action does not upload plan fields. Local storage is not encrypted by this tool and is accessible to other users of the same browser profile and scripts on the same origin.

Can I use this for Short selling?

Yes. For a short position, set the stop above entry and targets below entry. The largest planned gain uses the lowest target. This price-level model does not include borrow fees or margin.

How do I calculate multiple take profits?

Add multiple targets using the "Add Target" button. The visualizer shows target gain divided by initial stop distance for each level. It does not assign position fractions or calculate an aggregate multi-exit return.
