What This Time Zone Converter Does
The large clock shows the current instant in your selected zone. The eight city clocks show each city’s own local time, date and current UTC offset. Changing the selector converts the session windows and their intersections; it does not change the underlying instant.
Session Definitions Used Here
For a consistent planning comparison, this tool uses eight-hour weekday windows: Sydney 09:00–17:00, Tokyo 09:00–17:00, London 08:00–16:00, and New York 09:00–17:00 in local civil time. These are explicit illustrative conventions, not a universal definition of a forex session or the cash-equity hours of those cities.
Each card uses the current calendar date in its city. The converted dates may differ in your selected zone. On a city’s Saturday or Sunday its window is inactive. Holidays, broker maintenance and special trading schedules are not modeled; a green card cannot confirm that an instrument is tradable.
Daylight Saving Time and Offsets
The browser’s IANA time-zone rules determine offsets for the displayed date. London, New York and Sydney can move clocks on different dates, so their UTC windows and overlaps change through the year. Mumbai’s half-hour offset is preserved. UTC itself has no seasonal clock change.
How to Read Overlaps
The two overlap cards intersect the actual instants of the displayed weekday windows and express the result in your selected zone. When the windows do not intersect, no overlap is shown. This is a calendar calculation, not a measurement of liquidity, trading volume or volatility. It does not imply that 70% of trades occur in an overlap or that spreads and slippage will improve.
Using the Converter
- Select your desired time zone and check the large clock’s date as well as its time.
- Compare the city clocks and their current offsets.
- Read the converted start and end dates on each illustrative session card.
- Confirm the actual trading schedule with your broker or exchange, including holidays and daily pauses, before scheduling an order or alert.
The clock follows your device’s current time and updates about once per second while the page is active. It is not an exchange-synchronized clock or an alert service, and this version does not accept a custom historical or future conversion date.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the selected time zone affect every clock?
The large current-time display and session-window conversions use your selected zone. Each city clock continues to show that city’s local time. Offsets are calculated for the current instant using browser time-zone rules, rather than fixed summer or winter offsets.
Are these official forex market opening hours?
No. These are illustrative weekday activity windows: Sydney and Tokyo 09:00–17:00, London 08:00–16:00, and New York 09:00–17:00 in each city’s local time. Spot forex is decentralized. Broker sessions, holiday closures, maintenance and individual instruments can differ; green highlighting means only that the displayed weekday window is active.
How does daylight saving time affect the converter?
Named IANA time zones let the browser apply the rules in its time-zone database for the displayed date. Sydney, London and New York can change offsets on different dates; Tokyo does not currently observe daylight saving time. Update your browser if local rules have recently changed.
Does forex always reopen at 22:00 UTC on Sunday?
No single UTC time applies to every broker year-round. Schedules anchored to New York local time move relative to UTC during daylight saving time, and providers can have daily pauses or holiday exceptions. Check the broker’s published schedule for the instrument you trade.
Do overlapping sessions guarantee better trading conditions?
No. The overlap calculation only intersects the displayed time windows. It does not measure volume, volatility, spreads or execution quality and cannot identify a universally best time to trade.
