Put-Call Parity Diagnostic

Compare available call and put daily closing prices against a no-dividend European parity benchmark. A displayed gap is a reason to check the data and assumptions, not proof of executable arbitrage.

Scan Parameters

Minimum absolute residual per share; not a cost estimate

At most 250 returned contracts. Uses option daily closes and a separate underlying quote, which may have different timestamps. No dividends, borrow costs, bid/ask execution or early-exercise model. Gaps are not profits. Rate 5.25% is an editable example, not a current Treasury yield.

Enter a ticker and future expiration to compare the returned snapshot.

What the residual measures

For European options with the same underlying, strike K and expiry, no dividends and frictionless financing, C + K exp(−rT) = P + S. This page reports the signed residual C + K exp(−rT) − P − S and filters its absolute size. Values are per underlying share in the input price units, not per-contract profit.

The calculation uses the provider’s most recent option daily closing prices and a separate underlying quote. They may refer to different times. The rate is an annual continuously compounded assumption. Time is the difference between UTC calendar dates divided by 365; same-day expiry is excluded because this is not an intraday expiry model.

Read coverage before comparing rows

One request returns at most 250 contracts for the selected expiration and strike range. A next-page notice means the chain is incomplete. Only one call and one put at a matching strike, expiry and exercise style, each reporting 100 shares per contract, are analyzed. Missing closes, ambiguous duplicate legs and unsupported multipliers are skipped. A zero close is preserved when explicitly supplied. Confirm deliverables independently: a 100-share field alone does not certify that a contract is unadjusted.

Why a gap is not a trade recommendation

American exercise rights, discrete dividends, stock borrow availability, financing rates and nonmatching observations can break this benchmark. Increasing a threshold does not correct those differences. A real conversion or reversal requires stock and financing legs as well as options; buying one option and selling the other alone does not lock in an arbitrage profit.

Executable analysis needs simultaneous bid/ask quotes, sizes, contract deliverables, fees, margin and borrowing terms. This page does not calculate those cash flows or place orders. An empty table means no eligible returned pair crossed your threshold; it does not establish market efficiency or absence of opportunities elsewhere.

Frequently asked questions

Does a gap prove arbitrage?

No. This diagnostic mixes available option daily closes with a separate underlying quote. Timestamps, dividends, exercise rights and trading costs may explain the difference. It does not calculate executable profit.

Which model is used?

C + K exp(−rT) − P − S, the residual from no-dividend European put-call parity. American pairs may appear but the European equality is not an early-exercise model.

Does the scan cover the entire chain?

No. It uses one response of at most 250 contracts. Additional pages, missing legs, ambiguous pairs and unsupported multipliers are excluded; coverage is reported above the results.

What does the threshold mean?

It filters the absolute residual per underlying share. It is not an estimated transaction cost or a guarantee of profit after costs. Zero is allowed and includes exact zero residuals.

Is the default rate current?

No. 5.25% is an editable example. Supply an appropriate continuously compounded annual financing assumption. Calendar days use a 365-day year and same-day expiry is excluded.

Can Pineify execute the displayed result?

No. This page does not send orders, construct financing or stock-borrow legs, or automatically transfer an options position to TradingView.

Review the contracts behind a pricing gap

Pineify’s AI Stocks & Options Picker provides a separate options-chain research workflow. Check available contract fields and timestamps; this diagnostic does not execute trades or transfer a multi-leg position.
