Allocation analysis before portfolio optimization
Use this tool for a manual allocation review. It combines the percentages you enter with available company profiles and stock quotes. There is no solver searching for an optimal set of weights.
Review a portfolio in four steps
- Enter 1–30 distinct symbols with positive weights totaling 100%. Use weights calculated in a common base currency. The starting seven-stock allocation is an example, not investment advice.
- Analyze the portfolio to request data. Review missing quote/profile labels before drawing conclusions. Unknown sector weight is retained, not redistributed among known sectors.
- Inspect the largest position and sector chart. For funds, the company profile is not a look-through analysis of underlying holdings.
- Change weights and rerun to compare composition. The tool does not rank alternatives by return or tell you which allocation is suitable.
What the metrics mean
Sector weight is the sum of your entered percentages for holdings assigned to that sector. Largest holding is the highest entered weight. Neither needs a forecast. All portfolio weight remains in the chart, including the unknown category.
Weighted vendor beta is Σ(weight ÷ 100 × supplied beta), calculated only with complete beta coverage. Beta measures benchmark sensitivity, not total volatility. A beta of zero is a value, not missing data. Because this page does not verify a common benchmark and estimation window, the weighted result is a descriptive proxy.
Outputs that require additional evidence
Portfolio volatility requires each asset’s variance and covariance. A Sharpe ratio requires an aligned return series and risk-free rate. Expected return needs an explicit forecasting assumption. This tool fetches none of those inputs and does not display substitutes derived from daily changes or arbitrary constants.
Only weights are entered, so no account market value or dollar position size is known. Last dividend divided by price is not assumed to be an annual yield. Currency comes from the profile; unknown currency stays unknown, and currencies are not converted.
Data and diversification limits
Quotes and profiles are separate snapshots, cached by the API for 30 seconds and five minutes respectively. They may contain different observation dates or unavailable fields. Reanalyzing requests data again but does not guarantee a new market observation.
Investor.gov describes diversification as spreading investments across holdings. It does not promise protection from losses. Sector classifications alone cannot establish correlations, concentration inside funds or a portfolio’s suitability for your goals.
