Forex Pip Value Manager
Compare pip values using 100,000-unit lots and your own conversion assumptions. Initial rates are illustrative, not live quotes. Update them before relying on the table.

Manual Conversion Rates
USD per one currency unit. USD is fixed at 1. Initial values are illustrative; no market data is fetched. For USD/JPY at 150, enter JPY = 1/150, approximately 0.00666667.

Pip Value Reference Table
0 pairsCalculate Pip Value with Explicit Units
A pip is a conventional forex price increment, often 0.0001 for non-JPY quotes and 0.01 for JPY quotes. Quotes may include smaller fractional pips; a pip is not necessarily the instrument's minimum tick. This tool fixes one standard lot at 100,000 base-currency units and lets you choose a pip size for each pair.
Quote-currency pip value per lot = pip size × 100,000. Account-currency value = quote value × (USD per quote unit) / (USD per account unit). When quote and account currencies match, the conversion is exactly 1. Position value multiplies the per-lot result by your entered lot size.
Check the Manual Rates
For EUR/USD in a USD account with a 0.0001 pip, one lot is $10 per pip, 0.1 lot is $1, and 0.01 lot is $0.10. For USD/JPY with a 0.01 pip and a hypothetical 150 JPY per USD, one lot is JPY 1,000 per pip, or about USD 6.6667. Enter JPY as USD per JPY, the reciprocal of the USD/JPY quote.
For GBP/USD in a EUR account with hypothetical EUR/USD 1.10, the per-lot value is USD 10 / 1.10 = about EUR 9.0909. Enter rates from a consistent time and source. The starting conversion constants have no current-market timestamp; they are examples. Missing conversions are shown as unavailable instead of assuming parity.
Maintain and Transfer a Reference Table
- Select the account currency and a positive lot size up to 10,000. Quick-size buttons fill the same input.
- Add distinct three-letter BASE/QUOTE labels with a positive pip size up to 1. The table allows at most 100 pairs. A label does not validate that a broker offers the instrument.
- Enter the displayed USD conversion rates. Currency changes use those same USD-per-unit definitions. Results update as you edit.
- Settings save to browser local storage when available, including an empty pair list. Export creates a JSON backup; Import validates and replaces the current configuration. Reset restores the original pairs and illustrative rates.
The calculator itself does not submit the configuration to an API. Browser storage can be cleared, blocked, or accessed by someone using the same browser profile. An exported JSON file contains your settings; share it deliberately. Site-wide analytics are outside this local calculation.
Use Pip Value as a Planning Input
For a hypothetical $100 planned loss, a 50-pip stop, and $10 per pip per lot, estimated size is $100 / (50 × $10) = 0.2 lots. This assumes the stop executes at the planned distance. Gaps, slippage, spread, fees, financing, and changing conversion rates can produce a different loss. The tool supplies no universal safe risk percentage and does not enforce a stop.
This fixed-lot calculation is not a general crypto, futures, inverse-contract, or CFD valuation engine. Verify contract multipliers and tick specifications with the broker. See IG's pip-value explanation for the quote-currency formula and OANDA's pip and pipette explanation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is a pip the smallest possible price change?
A pip is a conventional forex price increment, often 0.0001 or 0.01 for JPY quotes. Brokers may quote fractional pips, called pipettes. Tick size and contract specifications must be checked separately.
Are these live exchange rates?
No. The initial conversion rates are illustrative constants. Edit USD per one unit of each relevant currency before using the table. Missing or invalid conversions show unavailable results; no 1:1 exchange rate is assumed.
How is account-currency pip value calculated?
For one 100,000-unit lot, quote pip value is pip size times 100,000. Multiply by USD per quote currency and divide by USD per account currency. If quote equals account currency, no conversion is needed. Multiply by lots for the position value.
Can this be used for cryptocurrency or arbitrary CFDs?
The table assumes exactly 100,000 base units per lot. It does not model inverse contracts, broker-specific multipliers, or crypto lot conventions. A custom pair label does not validate those specifications.
What is saved and exported?
Pairs, account currency, lot size, and entered conversion rates are stored in this browser when local storage is available. JSON export/import transfers that configuration, not a live quote subscription or trade record. Storage failures are shown, and clearing browser data removes saved settings.
Does a stop-loss calculation cap my loss?
No. A position estimate based on pips omits gaps, slippage, spread, commissions, and execution limits. The hypothetical $100 risk example is a planning amount, not a guaranteed maximum loss.
