ChatGPT vs Pineify

ChatGPT Stock Chart Analysis: Ask, Inspect, and Verify

Use an evidence-focused prompt for stock chart screenshots. Compare ChatGPT image questions with Pineify reports and verify prices, patterns, and uncertainty.

ChatGPT can interpret images, with visual limitations

OpenAI documents image inputs on Free and paid ChatGPT plans, subject to usage limits and account settings. A chart can be uploaded and discussed. The image-input documentation also warns about incorrect descriptions, precise spatial localization, and interpreting graphs that use different line styles or colors. Those limitations matter when a chart has small price labels or overlapping indicators. This page does not present a measured accuracy comparison.

Ask for evidence and a useful format

The following is a prompt to try, not a recorded model result. You can request a table rather than assuming ChatGPT only returns paragraphs. A requested format does not ensure that the observations are correct.

  • Read only the attached chart. List the visible symbol, timeframe, price scale, and indicators; write unknown for unreadable labels.
  • Return a table with observation, visible evidence, estimated price if readable, and uncertainty. Separate observations from possible interpretations.
  • For each candidate pattern, identify the pivots and what would confirm or invalidate it. Do not invent an unseen indicator, volume series, news event, or future candle.
  • List missing context that would change the interpretation. Do not assign a probability of profit without a documented basis.

Pineify provides a defined report workflow

Pineify accepts one PNG, JPEG, or WebP image up to 3 MB. Its report has structured fields for market context, visible structure, candidate patterns, suggested levels, risks, and uncertainty, with a Buy/Sell/Neutral interpretation and model-assessed 0–100 scores. Price values, symbol, and timeframe can be unavailable; the schema does not require invented numeric values. Sign-in, an eligible paid plan, and daily allowance are required. Images are uploaded for analysis and results are saved to account history. This workflow does not fetch news or live quotes, execute an order, or guarantee identical interpretations on repeated submissions.

Verify numbers separately from interpretations

Check a reported level against the original chart or exported price data. A synthetic level-reading example: if the reference is 100 and the response says 101, the absolute error is 1 and relative error is |101 − 100| / 100 = 1%. That measures a number-reading discrepancy, not whether 100 is useful support or whether a trade is profitable. Where support is a subjective zone, define its boundaries and matching tolerance before scoring a response.

Compare the workflows on the same evidence

Keep the exact image, capture time, prompt, selected model or product version when shown, and resulting response. Test repeat submissions without claiming that either product is deterministic. Include unclear images and neutral cases. Have reviewers mark unsupported observations and disagreeing pattern labels. A comparison needs a predefined task and held-out examples; one attractive result does not establish superiority.

  • ChatGPT: a conversational image-review workflow where the prompt can request fields, explanations, and follow-up questions.
  • Pineify: a predefined chart-report interface with saved history and an account allowance.
  • Direct chart review: access to the underlying prices and controls for checking labels, intervals, and annotations. Human judgment can also be mistaken.

Keep outside research separate from the screenshot

If a response uses a current quote, earnings date, or news item, require a timestamped source for that claim. It was not recovered from an old screenshot merely because the ticker is visible. Likewise, do not treat a chart-analysis score as a calibrated forecast or as a completed backtest. Define and test trading rules separately from evaluating image-reading quality.

A readable chart and a well-formed response can still lead to an incorrect interpretation. Verify observations before defining or testing any trade rule.
