AI in Trading: Research, Code, Testing and Execution
AI tools can help summarize market information, rank securities or draft strategy code. Those outputs need different checks. A research answer is not an order, a compiled strategy is not a validated investment method, and a simulated fill is not a broker execution.
Match the tool to the task
Pineify has separate Finance Agent, AI Stock Picker and coding workflows. Finance tools retrieve available provider data; the Stock Picker displays stored Danelfin scores; the Pine Script Coding Agent helps draft and revise code. The visual editor builds supported rules from blocks. These capabilities should not be described as one autonomous system that researches, runs TradingView tests and trades without review.
How It Works
- 1
For research, specify the symbol, reporting period and question. Inspect the returned source, timestamp, units and missing fields. Tool refresh intervals do not guarantee exchange-real-time data.
- 2
For coding, define entry, exit, sizing, timeframe and whether conditions act intrabar or after the bar closes. Review the generated source and request syntax checking; compilation does not prove the rules match the request.
- 3
Run a generated strategy yourself in TradingView’s Strategy Tester. Check the symbol, test dates, broker-emulator settings, costs and fill assumptions. Do not invent a result that has not been run.
- 4
Keep an untouched evaluation period and test robustness without repeatedly tuning to the same sample. Compare return, drawdown, exposure and costs with a suitable benchmark.
- 5
Treat live execution as a separate integration. Pine strategy orders are simulated; alerts and a broker or external execution service require their own configuration, permissions and monitoring.
Keep workflow stages separate
| Feature | Research | Strategy code and testing | Order execution |
|---|---|---|---|
| Output | Sourced information and interpretation | Inspectable source and a separately run test | Orders and actual fill records |
| Evidence | Provider, period and missing-data checks | Rule review, syntax check and simulation assumptions | Broker permissions, order status and reconciliation |
| Limit | An answer is not a trade instruction | A backtest does not guarantee live results | Integration and execution risk remain |
Example Research Tasks
Audit a market answer
Example question
“Which reporting period and provider support this number?”
Illustrative response
Inspect sources and missing data. An answer without a suitable source should remain unverified.
Specify a crossover
Example question
“Draft entry and exit rules for a moving-average crossover.”
Illustrative response
Use the coding workflow to produce a draft, then inspect its logic and check syntax. No performance result is implied.
Review a backtest
Example question
“Which assumptions could make this test optimistic?”
Illustrative response
Inspect costs, fill timing, lookahead, repainting and repeated parameter selection. Provide the actual report rather than asking the model to invent metrics.
