Stocks Under $1: Research Listing Status, Splits and Liquidity

Stocks under $1 require issuer-specific research. A price filter does not measure company size or prove distress, and an AI score cannot make the shares safe. This page provides a research workflow, not current picks, an enforced minimum-volume preset or a forecast of returns.

Check the listing notice and its actual deadline

A low quoted price can raise exchange-compliance questions, but delisting is not automatic on a single trade below $1. Read the issuer notice and the applicable venue rules, including the relevant period, cure conditions and any appeal. Do not apply one exchange rule to OTC securities or every share class.

Separate a reverse split from a business improvement

In a hypothetical 1-for-10 reverse split, 1,000 shares at $0.50 become 100 shares at a theoretical $5 before market movements and fractional-share treatment. Both positions initially represent $500. The split itself does not generate cash for the business or repair its operating losses; later market prices may change.

Measure the spread in both dollars and percent

A hypothetical $0.48 bid and $0.52 ask has a $0.04 spread, or 8% of the $0.50 midpoint. Buying at the ask and immediately selling at the unchanged bid loses about 7.69% of the purchase price before fees. A volume total does not establish that your order can execute at either quoted price.

Investigate financing before assigning a score

Read recent filings for going-concern language, cash burn, financing commitments, convertible debt, warrants and share issuance. Save the dates and distinguish unavailable data from zero. There is no universal number of red flags that proves a stock is tradeable or untradeable.

What Pineify provides

The free company screener queries available company data and can enrich results with financial metrics and analyst estimates. It is separate from the AI Stock Picker, which displays stored Danelfin scores and component fields with plan-dependent access. Check the dataset update date. This page does not establish special low-price model weights, universal stock coverage or automated trading from screen results.

Frequently asked questions

Educational research, not investment advice. Low-priced securities can be illiquid and subject to dilution, manipulation or total loss. A limit order may not fill, and a stop does not guarantee its execution price.
