What is a Trade Replay Simulator?
A trade replay simulator is a powerful training tool that allows traders to practice their decision-making skills using historical price data. Instead of waiting for real market conditions, you can replay past market action bar-by-bar, simulating the experience of watching the market unfold in real-time. This enables you to practice entries, exits, and risk management without risking real capital.
Our free trade replay simulator lets you upload any historical OHLCV (Open, High, Low, Close, Volume) data in CSV format and replay it at various speeds. You can place simulated trades with stop loss and take profit levels, mark decision points for later review, and analyze your performance metrics after each session.
How to Use This Trade Replay Simulator
- 1
Prepare Your Data
Export historical price data from your broker, TradingView, or any data provider. The CSV must include date, open, high, low, and close columns. Volume is optional but recommended.
- 2
Upload and Start Replay
Upload your CSV file and use the playback controls to step through the data. You can play continuously, step bar-by-bar, or jump to specific points using the slider.
- 3
Place Simulated Trades
When you see a setup you like, click "Place Trade" to enter a long or short position. Set your stop loss and take profit percentages, and the system will automatically exit when price hits your levels.
- 4
Mark Decision Points
Use the "Mark Decision Point" button to flag interesting moments for later review. These markers appear on the chart and help you analyze your thought process.
- 5
Analyze Your Performance
Review your trade history and performance metrics including total P&L, win rate, profit factor, and average win/loss. Use these insights to refine your strategy.

Tips for Effective Replay Practice
- •Start slow: Begin with 0.5x or 1x speed to carefully analyze each bar before making decisions.
- •Use realistic position sizing: Set stop losses and take profits that match your actual trading plan.
- •Take notes: Use the notes field when entering trades to document your reasoning.
- •Review losing trades: Pay special attention to trades that hit stop loss - what could you have done differently?
- •Practice different market conditions: Upload data from trending, ranging, and volatile periods.
