Cross Currency Pair Calculator
Get the cross rate from two direct quotes. Enter two pairs (e.g. EUR/USD and GBP/USD) and their rates to see the implied cross rate (e.g. EUR/GBP).
When both pairs share the same quote currency (e.g. USD), cross rate = Rate 1 ÷ Rate 2. So 1 EUR = 0.850394 GBP.
What is a cross currency rate?
A cross currency rate (or cross rate) is the exchange rate between two currencies that is derived from their rates against a common reference currency—usually the US dollar. For example, if EUR/USD = 1.08 and GBP/USD = 1.27, then the cross rate EUR/GBP = 1.08 ÷ 1.27 ≈ 0.8504. Traders and businesses use cross rates when a direct quote for a pair is not readily available or to check consistency across markets.
How to use this cross rate calculator
- Enter Pair 1: e.g. EUR/USD. This means 1 euro = X units of the quote (USD).
- Enter Rate 1: The current rate for Pair 1 (e.g. 1.08 means 1 EUR = 1.08 USD).
- Enter Pair 2: e.g. GBP/USD, using the same quote currency as Pair 1.
- Enter Rate 2: The current rate for Pair 2. The calculator gives the cross rate (Base1/Base2) = Rate 1 ÷ Rate 2.
Why use a cross currency calculator?
A cross currency calculator lets you quickly find the implied rate between two currencies when you only have their quotes against a common reference (e.g. USD). It is useful for forex trading, international payments, and checking cross rates for arbitrage or hedging. Always use up-to-date rates from your broker or a reliable source when making real decisions.
